Crude but functional.

Over here, most cable trenchers have a blade like that (only in steel) to fill the trenches with their Japanese mini excavators. Some guys have hydraulic wedge quick connectors to the bucket and swap the banana bucket for a wide one, but those who dont, leave the trenching bucket on it and clamp on a scraper blade.

A friend of mine who has an excavating company has a metal plate that is bolted to the bottom of his backhoe bucket. I believe he called it a "footer plate" so that when he digs footers it is nice and smooth on the bottom for the concrete pour. No teeth marks to disturb the soil.

I made this 40 inches wide.
I might have been able to go with 48 to 60 inches but I didn't want to go to wide and put to much pressure on the board.
If this works out ok I may make one out of steel depending on how well it works and how much use I think I would get out of It.

I do know that 40 inches will rake a lot more dirt a lot faster than the 10 inch bucket

This may look odd but I have seen a lot --and done it myself--of Yankee farmers use pices of two by whatever to smooth fields behind a disc, grade roads and other tillage tasks. I bolted one to my blade and rock-rake one year to snowplow and another year to help grade a road.
They eventually break so most user rock maple.

If you can find an old blade off of a road grader that would work great. I have used them before for all kinds of good stuff. The upside to the blade is it already has places for bolts and has a cutting edge on it.

A cutting edge would be nice but I made this for loose dirt.
I'm thinking about maybe just taking out 2 or 3 of the bucket teeth bolts and getting a couple or 3 longer bolts and bolting a steel or wood scraper blade on that way.

Does anybody happen to know what size those bolts are?
Are they Standard or Metric?

The bolts are 1/2" diameter (Takes a 3/4" wrench).

I've already ran into that .
Have the scraper on but need it off to do some digging.

You can make a steel one, weld some clamps that wedge onto the teeth and bucket lip, and use only 1 bolt to make sure it doesnt slip off.

Allmost like that: I would only add two positioning blocks on the outer teeth too to make sure it doesnt swivel and ruin the bolts.

Here's a sketch of the setup I used for many years when I was digging holes for a living. I used a piece of grader blade.
