B7100 HST - how good is this tractor?

The hydraulic flow rate on the B7100 is quite low. May not be sufficient for some types of add ons.

It'll be really slow. You could get one with a separate reservoir and a PTO pump, though.

You probably do not have a Remote on the 7100. The only planned function for the small hydraulic pump on it is 3pt lift and not even steering. Probably would barely operate a loader if at all. Thus, by the time you add a pump which is expensive and/or a remote you are into more money than the machine is worth. To me, best utilization is work it to death on whatever it is already equipped for and go to some other machine for other things. Still very nice to have around.

Congratulations on the B7100.
I love mine. Loader works awesome. It a great digger.
I put remotes on mine, but I never tried a splitter. When I do the math on the specs, it sounds both slow and not particularly strong. I recall figuring that for a reasonable cycle time you`d be limited to a 3 inch ram, which translated to about 9ton.

The loader is great for the size. It cycles fine. As for add-ons like logsplitters, you just have to think outside the box. It could be done using a PTO pump, many aftermarket loaders use them. There are tons of posts on here about these little tractors. The B6100 and 7100 are almost interchangeable aside from the engine so you can search posts for either of them

When it comes to power steering, you can sometimes find the parts on E-bay to do it. I run mine off the hydraulic pump but will add a belt driven pump to the front of the motor at some point, foreign cars have small ones with remote reservoirs. Mine works fine but I lose power steering when I operate the FEL. Seeing yours doesn't have a FEL you may not feel the need for P/S but it does keep the fingers unbroken when going through ruts. In my sig you can see my P/S thread plus I added some more below. Do keep an eye on the steering box, they are a weak link.

My friend's 7100 has PS and FEL.
What they did was to add a 2nd pump up front driven by the crankshaft via a universal joint and short shaft..
Seems his factory pump is dedicated mainly to the power steering with the aux for the FEL.

Since he suffers from a slight handicap he added a short lever to the hydro peddle that allows him to hand operate the 'go peddle'.
It seems that he is getting near 3000 hrs on it (added a recording tack). LOL it looks like it too.

His main downside is that it has a dynamo and that puts out a mere 10 amps or so but with LED's we have today he has all the lighting he needs.

Thanks for all the info everyone! I can't wait for it to arrive so I can play with it, but it's still going to be 6 weeks or so!

Had one for a few years, used it to mow with and do odd jobs - Work GREAT and always started and ran without any issues or problems. Was good on the hills and was only 2 wheel drive but never had any problems getting around with it mowing our hills.

Like was already said, it will be a workhorse for you. My dad bought a B8200 going on 30 years ago and it has done everything from loader work, finish mowing, to baling hay. It has been a great tractor and is still going strong with about 4500 hours.

I'll use it as is for a while. If I can't live without the FEL, I'll either trade up or look into adding one.
I'd also be interested in knowing about who can sell me a power steering module for it if anyone has some good sources.

Get a Carry All AND CALL IT A DAY. Too expensive to upgrade to FEL & PS.

Before I got carry all I used dirt scoop a lot, there is a reason they call the scoop loader for the poor man :)

Just like RobertN in Calif., I too had a B8200 with an aftermarket Bush Hog loader. I found I wanted power steering after using it to clear snow for hours on end, and got lucky in finding an old stock Kubota aftermarket kit. For occasional loader work, no PS just means more arm development. It was a very capable little tractor, probably still going strong with its new owners. I would check out the link for the loader kits posted earlier... might be cost effective.

I’m a little late with this thread but thought I’d chime in. I have a B7200, about 30 years old. No Hydro, three speed, high and low range. I bought it new with a manual angle adjust Kasko 50” snow blade. I added a 3pt scoop from Tractor supply, a 3 pt boom and found a used woods RM 42 brush hog. This handled living on 12 wooded acres, 1000’ gravel driveway maintenance and snow clearing. I did get a set of tire chains for some extreme snow conditions or hauling logs out of the woods. Never an issue with the tractor. All maintainance was done and the only issue I ever had was one of the clutch pedal springs breaking. So a few bucks for a spring and ‘old orange’ is still used. I did get a B3030 with a FEL about 7-8 years ago which is used for moving all the stuff I need to or seem to move. And my new 5 year old baby is a BX2360 which handles the mowing now. The B7200 will outlive me. All they need is a little TLC and are a breeze to maintain. The engine still runs perfectly as new. Have fun with your new found Kubota.

How many hours on it now?

My B1750 is above 1500 now, got it under a 1000 - but the cable was broken,it could have more than that.

Heck, it’s just getting broke in. Only 1400 HRS. I have the ag tires on it and it just churns away. As long as I get a little traction I never get stuck. ;)
