B7100 3 Point Lift Problem

I've got an early 80s B7100D 4wd tractor with around 800 hours on it. For about the past year the 3 point hitch has become increasingly jumpy and screeches when under load. What could cause this or better yet what do I need to do to fix. I have never changed the tranny fluid and it seems to be reading at the correct level.

I have a late 70s B6100D 4wd. According to the owner's and repair manuals, it's very similar to the B7100. In my 6100, the tranny fluid is used for the 3 point hitch. Mine screeches when raised all the way up. That's the pressure relief valve actuating.

I'd suggest you change your tranny fluid and check/replace your filter as a first step. Could solve your problem for minimal cost and it's probably due for a change anyway (mine is... )

Where is the filter for the tranny fluid. The tranny fluid is just hydrolic fluid correct? I believe mine manual says that it will take 3 gallons to replace.

Follow the suction line back to the sump. You'll see what looks like a bolt holding it to the differential. That's the filter. It's actually a hollow bolt with a mesh strainer on the end. You can clean the strainer and reuse it. I replaced the "o" rings on mine when I did it. The hydraulic lines are on the right side. The suction line is the larger of the two.

For the fluid use UDT.

I forgot to mention it but drain the tranny before you remove the strainer. There should be three drain plugs on the tranny. Also have a drain pan under the strainer before you remove it or you get tranny fluid on the driveway. I saw that happen once to someone I know.
