Im having trouble figureing out were to run the exhaust once it's been through the turbo. There's just not alot of room under that hood. I might have to put the turbo out side. That wouldnt look to cool. But I might not have a choice.

Hey, Rip, I just saw this thread. Great project, turbo-ing a 3-cyl Kubota.
I think it could look fine for the turbo to be outside the engine compartment,
with muffler and exhaust pipe pointing up.

Are you also going to change the FI timing or fuel flow?

I agree. I think it would look fine outside the hood. It would look especially fine on my B6100E! It's a project I've considered that's not out of my mechanical ability. I just have to get the engine back together and make sure it's going to hold up well before I sink any more money into it. The previous owner of my tractor neglected it badly.

Well the last one I did, I didn't bump the fuel up at all. But it really cleaned up the exhaust on that one. This little three cylinder runs pretty clean so I'll probably have to run the fuel up a little bit more. I would hate to burn down a set a valves or a piston. But untill I get it installed and can put an EGT on it I wont know. Ill take any advise anyone has to give though.

Rip.

We were hashing this out in a recent thread. There is no substitute for
first hand experience. Thx for sharing.

How much did the turbo addition quiet down the old Satoh? I wonder how
much the Kubota motor will be hushed. My old Kubotas were LOUD (L2550DT).

I don't think it would matter to me. I'd straight pipe it. Turbo whistle makes my heart go pitty-pat.

I could have run the Satoh with out a muffler, It was pretty quiet. This little three cylider is pretty quiet the way it is too. **** I dont really even need the extra power.. This tractor is a stud just the way it is. But the turbo makes me hot... The problem with these small turbos is that you loose the whine of the turbine once you get past half throttle. There spinning so fast that the sound cant keep up with it.
