I have the 80X on my 3030. The hoe is put away for the winter, and I haven't got it dug out for the summer yet. Yes, the subframe for the hoe is six inches longer than the one for the open station tractor. I've siad this before, and I'll say it again. Give some thought to getting the 70X..... it is a better match for the tractor. When going up even the slightest hill, the tractor is difficult to steer because the front end is so light from the weight of the 80X. I'm not exactly saying I'd trade my 80X for a 70...... but the 70 is simply a much better match for the tractor. Also, plan on buying Kubota's rear wheel spacers for around $300. Without them, you won't be able to get the pins in that mount the hoe. It will also make your tractor more stable, and are nice to have anyway. As far as the overhang goes..... it's never been a problem. I can see it would be possible (or likely) for the back of the hoe to drag when driving up onto a trailer, but it has NEVER been an issue under normal use of the tractor. I'm sure a good welding shop could raise the hoe a bit...... but I don't see the need for it. If it drags going up on a trailer.... get longer ramps, or drive on a couple 2X10s or whatever. Yes, the BH 80X is available with the hydraulic thumb. No, the BH 70X is not. Vic4news is the only member I'm aware of that has added the hydraulic thumb kit to his BH 80X. I guess if you were going to go that way, I'd just order it with the hydraulic thumb new. As far as putting a hydraulic thumb on a 70X..... it could be done, but not with a 'bolt on' kit. Many members here have added hydraulic thumbs over the years.... a search should find you plenty of reading on them.
