ernie,

When I was doing my pricing, the Ocala guy was the highest dealer I checked. Give Coastal Equipment Systems in Jax or McClenny Tractor sales a shout. They both were much less than the Ocala dealer for an L3130 gear with Fel. My quote from the Dealer in Jax was 17,430 for the afformentioned tractor. If I remember right, the Ocala guy wanted over 20K.

how is that snow blower? they are pricey but the rear blade i have is not that effective on my 3030. i think the machine is light for pulling any significant amount of snow.

I have yet to use the snowblower, kubotaone has the same rig as i, he had a small drive chain issue but he reports the machine is now working very well. As far as weight, my machine all tolled, cab, loader subframe, blower, etc weighs in at approximately 3700 lbs, i wouldn't call that real light?

yeah yours weighs more than mine. my 3030 is around 2k lbs and then with the rear blade maybe 2300. the rears are filled but like tonight with the 7 inches of wet snow we got here just east of flint, mi my 3030 would not pull the snow. i had to flop the blade backward and get the ole neck kink method going. i did throw the loader back on to save time and give me more weight. i was curious you mentioned the loader subframe in your post, is that a seperate subframe than the one for your snow blower? i ask because when i priced a snow blower they wanted 4k and 900 of that was for a seperate subframe that will work the front blade, front broom, or snow blower. the blade was about 1200 and the blower about 3100 around here in mi, then add the 900. we have about a 15inch base here in lapeer and that is not common for us this early in the year. this year i could use that blower. have fun with it.

The subframe for the loader consists of the two upright stanchions the loader itself locks into & the steele plating that attaches the uprights to the frame, approximately 400 lbs. The snowblower subframe is a seperate deal, it mounts up under the engine & front plate, i think it weighs in around 450 lbs.

When I lived about 7 miles south of Fremont over in Newaygo County (50 miles north of Grand Rapids, more or less), I used an old 8N and back blade to move the snow out of the way. I only had to back it when I wanted to push the snow to the side of the road after I dragged it out of the driveway. It puzzles me that your 3030 won't handle your snow as well as the 8N did. More power, more or less the same weight, maybe the 8n is lighter, and 4wd. How much snow do you get, anyways?

Over there, people used to plow their whole yard clear so they didn't run out of places to put the stuff before they ran out of winter.

hey teach,
we only occasionally get as much snow as we have now. i have about 15 inches in my yard, that is a lot especially for this time of year. the stuff that fell yesterday about 7-8 inches was wet, thus very heavy. i think the problem i was having is #1: gravel driveway #2: already 1-2 ft banks from the other snow, #3: long driveway
i used my dad's unit as well, it is not any better. he has a MF 1428V with turf tires. it has a wider stance and weighs about 500 more lbs. i think most of the issue is trying to push out the banks while pulling the snow and having to drive through the bank at the same time. in reverse i can go crazy, but i dont like neck kinks. - merry xmas

The problem with the banks is why the people over by Fremont push it clear across the yard early in the season.

From working with my little Cadet, if you hit the bank at an angle while backing, you'll move it and open a hole for more snow. You don't need to crane your neck too much if there's nothing to hit besides snow. Just make a lot of shallow hits next to each other, sort of like half a herringbone pattern and you should be in pretty good shape. Just don't pile it to windward or you'll be making your own snow fence and it'll drift shut real quickly. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
