A backhoe ... I'm kidding, I know you don't want one. But it's true, it makes a great conterweight.

Stef's right. Most of the time my backhoe is just expensive ballast - and I still get wheel spin! But my 4-in-1 is particularly heavy. I've seen some that don't look so heavy and wouldnt be much worse than an ordinary bucket. But almost any small tractor with a bucket will benefit from a counterweight for extra traction anyway. Theres plenty of discussion about rear weight in this group. Everything from wheel weights to boxes full of rocks.

The most common rear weight I notice around here is a round chunk of concrete that looks like a roller . I guess its been set in a drum with a pipe down the centre. Then its mounted horizontally on the rear hitch.
