b3030 float the blower

hey guys, when blowing snow with the b3030 do u float the blower like the fel to prevent it from digging in to gravel? i have a asphalt driveway but the road to my house is gravel. it is a front mounted 63in snowblower that i ordered, cant wait!!!!!!! the snow will be sorry it ever landed in my driveway!!!!!!!!:laughing:

Most times. I like to not use float when I want to scrape down through the packed snow. Sometimes cars drive over the snow before I get to it and if I want to get the packed down stuff up I'll put just enough down pressure to slightly lift some of the weight off the front wheels. But I make sure that the whole cutting edge will hit the ground so I'm not wisting the blower.

Until the gravel portion of your driveway becomes frozen or covered with packed down snow,the blower in float will dig right into the gravel,throwing it with the snow and leaving the drive screwed up.Once frozen,float works very well.Pavement no problem.
To use float on gravel,a pipe on the cutting edge would help with floation,or even some guage wheels.But then you get to the pavement and you're not scraping down as much as you would like.
Perhaps a rear blade turned backwards could be used on the gravel portion until it firms up,allowing the blower ready for the asphalt.Several threads about this have been discussed here.Good Luck!Nice equipment choice!
