I just sold my Cub 7234 gear drive and am now ready to join the world of hydro drive. Unless something else really catches my eye, it looks like I'll order either a B2630 or a B3030. My old Cub had a 20hp PTO and the 2630 has a 19.5hp PTO. I would like to get a new light duty 60" rotary mower. Will the 2630 power this ok, or do I spend the extra bucks for a 3030?

Ronster,
Where are you in Ct?

I have the B2910 very much like the 3030.
I really like the machine. I have 8 acres and it suits me very well.

I think the smaller machine will run the 60 inch deck fine but
I would get as much machine as you can.

The question is whether the 3030 is too big to do things on your property. If it is go for the 2630.

You will like the loader capacity more on the 3030.
You can never have too much loader capacity.
You'll limit the machines out if you start moving big rocks.

Regards,
Chris

The physical dimensions of the two tractors is the same. The main difference is in the horsepower increase and the weight (not much, about a 100 lbs. more for the non-cab 3030).

There are a few more features in the 3030, and also you can get the 3030 with cab which is not available for the 2630.

Take a look at the information on the Kubota 2630-3030 Web Page.

I can't find any difference between the 2630 and the 3030 except the hp. and 3 vs 4 cylinders. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they both take the LA403 loader. I guess I'm just not sure about paying out the extra$$ for 3.5 additional PTO hp. I've got a Woods 660RM that my 20 hp PTO Cub powered just fine. Thanks for all the advice. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

It looks like you're right. The only difference is in power and the number of cylinders. Others will need to comment on the number of cylinders. If you have the chance, you might want to drive both tractors and compare the smoothness of the engines and the responsiveness of the FEL on the two tractors.

It looks like the price difference is +/- $1500. That's about $42 a month w/ the 0% financing. Maybe I should just go for it . I notice the 3030 engine is rated a few hundred rpm less than the 2630, so maybe it's a little less vibration? The dealers I've been to so far don't have either model assembled, so I haven't seen in action. Just one more thought, I'm assuming the frame is stronger because the LA403 loader doesn't have a sub frame. Much cleaner lines. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I took delivery of my new B3030 less than two weeks ago and already have over 30 hours on it! (I use it commercially for my business.) I love the tractor and can tell you that the 4 cyl engine is not only smooth but quiet, I can use my cell phone while sitting on the tractor with the engine idling and even above idle. Also, regarding the FEL. it is one of the more responsive ones that I've used to date and quick enough for any task. I would opt for the 60" bucket, though, as the 54" bucket seems small for the tractor. Go for the 3030!

I'm calling around now getting some prices. when I finally make up my mind, /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I'll probably order one next week. I've got a 72" RMM already , so I might get the 60" MMM so I can use the collection system. If I get the 72" MMM, I'll have to get an after market system. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The B3030 seems to have *less* hydraulic capacity than the B2630 (9.1gpm vs 9.8gpm). Seems strange. Anyone know why, and how does this affect performance?

Seapea, you're right, I didn't notice it until now. Not really sure of the difference between 26hp pushing 9.8gpm or 30hp pushing 9.1gpm through the system. Just spliting hairs I guess. I found a new 2004 B2910 that has 9.5 gpm total hyd flow. That's probablly not enought of a difference to kill the deal on either machine. I'm more concerned with the new LA403 loader that doesn't use the big sub frame structure of the older B models. I wonder if it is as strong? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
