Kubota B2320
Hi guys (and ladies)!

It's my first post but I've been reading you all for months now, learning as much as I can about tractors (it will be my first one). You all helped me a lot even if you're unaware of it. I bet a lot of newbies go through the same process as I did. But anyway now I need your help directly :D

I'm about to jump and buy a B2320. I've been quoted prices at the dealer but it's very hard to have an idea if it's a good deal or not; most prices discussed here are US ones (I wish we had the same prices here!!). And around here the Kubota dealers are spread apart a lot, so it's hard to shop (we're talking of 1h drive in each direction).

Anyway here's the quote, if anyone wants to give me their opinion it would be appreciated:

B2320 tractor w/ block heater: 12.5k$
LA304 Loader: 3.35k$
BH65 backhoe (16in bucket): 7.8k$

Total: 23 650$

So.. What's the verdict?

Thanks a lot for your time!

Sounds about right for around here. We up north cannot pay any attention to US prices as everything here is priced just high enough to make it not worth the trouble to buy out of the states as the shipping etc. eats all the savings. Just have to live with getting the shaft.

So, $15.8K CND? (I did not buy a backhoe). For tractor, heater, FEL?

If so, that is "only" about $800 above US pricing. Is that "comforting"?

I've been finding that I'm getting reasonably decent prices quoted. I'm currently looking at the M7040 and it seems to be within a couple of thousand of one could expect in the USA (15% off US MSRP).

I bought a B3200 last month with FEL, box blade and snowblower. Initially I was looking at the B2320 until I realized my budget (and needs) allowed more hp. Without really trying I was offered $16k cdn for the 2320 with FEL so it looks like you are in the right region price wise.

Hope this helps....

Thanks a lot for your answers guys!

@Kuboman: I hear you! I'm fine with paying a bit more, since dealers up north have more territory to cover, less customers but the same fixed costs (building, electricity, employees, ...). As long as it's reasonable..

@bp fick: I'd be fine with 800$ above US prices. But you have to consider the CDN$ is worth more than the USD$. And you guys get what, 10-15% off MSRP. So it's more like 2.5k$ over US pricing

@canoetrpr: Thanks for the info. So it seems the price difference between US and CAN is fixed to 2-3k$ no matter the price of the tractor (or you have great quotes!). Interesting to know!

@Stewie1: It does help, thanks for your reply!

@The other guys. Please keep your answers coming! It's really appreciated

I wouldn't have a problem paying some more too if it went to the dealer. What offends me is it is Kubota that is dictating the price to the dealers here. The dealers have very little wiggle room and there is just no good reason for the higher price other than 'they can so they do'

The differential between the US $ and CND$ is what? 3 pennies?

Come on! No doubt your sales tax is higher, and that's a big bite.
Also, wouldn't believe everything you hear about Americans all saving 15% of Kubota.com list price either. 15% is certainly not typical.

Again, the price you quoted was not THAT bad, honestly, and that's all I was saying. I know we all find it fun to gripe, but owning it is more fun.

I don't know what Americans are paying but if I go to the Kubota US site and do the BUILD IT NOW, the price I get there is what we pay here. There are times of course when the dealer has old stock and Kubota puts on a discount but to order a tractor we pay the price on the US site almost to the penny.

Don't forget the equine discount

"18% discount off the Canadian MSRP (Manufacturer痴 Suggested Retail Price) for Kubota power units (Tractors, Utility Vehicles, Excavators, Carriers and Wheel Loaders) and a KED 10% discount off the Canadian MSRP of any Kubota branded attachment (loaders, backhoes etc). "

Details can be found at Kubota canada's website under the "inside Kubota" tab.

I joined one of the groups for $50 and bought the tractor the next day.

I agree that owning is more fun! But while you're shopping, you don't want to be ripped off either! And the sales tax are an additional hit but I was comparing prices, excluding taxes. It seems there is not much difference in money value, but with the exchange rate these days, on a 20k$ tractor it's another 500$ we pay "more". But anyway it won't stop me from buying!

Exactly, we basically pay US MSRP prices..

Now you got my attention :) I didn't think it was THAT easy! So how much did you save going that route? Were you forced to pay cash or something like that? The dealer obviously didn't mention this rebate..

I just pulled the trigger on an M7040 HSDCC. I paid 91.5% of the US MSRP for an identically equipped tractor off the USA website. That works out to about $2500 above 85% of US MSRP.

At that price difference it wasn't really worth doing anything different for me. I'm working with a REAL good local dealer who is giving me VERY good prices on all the equipment (tractor and some implements) I am trading in and very fair prices on new implements I am purchasing.

Don't get me wrong - I'd rather keep that extra $2500. However it has been more than worth the reduced hassle transporting across the border, price of transportation, clean one shot deal being able to trade in all my equipment and have it replaced in a single transaction.

Hopefully others here in Canada will be able to find dealers to work with.

I probably should have looked into what the Canadian MSRP is for these items but I expect it is higher than the US MSRP so the equine discount of 18% off Canadian MSRP probably is not far from what I'm paying.

Well the problem is where do you get canadian MSRP prices. Besides the tractor price itself which you can guess by the "starting at" mention on kubota.ca, there's no way to know the implements price... So you have no way to compare with the deal you got :-/

Yep.. and I'm not going to lose sleep stressing about it either. I think I got a fair deal on the new machine and a very fair deal on my trade. I plan to enjoy my tractor when it gets here!

Oh forgot to say Congrats in the last message  I'm sure you'll enjoy your new tractor!! I'm about to pull the trigger too, I can't wait because just like you I won't have to worry about prices and options anymore
