Currently I have a B2150HSD with the dynamo to charge the battery. Of course with the added lights for night time snow plowing I do a pretty good job of discharging the battery. I have considered the option of LED lighting but I don't think they put out the lumans that my 55 watt halogens do.
I know the 40 amp alternator kit is no longer available from Kubota so I am asking if anyone has this kit installed or has done it themselves. I can get an 40 amp alternator but the supplier says I need 2-3" more of space than the dynamo takes up. I don't, it will hit the exhaust manifold.
I saw one picture of a B2150 with an alternator and it was mounted higher up and it was turned by a double pulley where the dynamo was. Is this the set up?

Any help would be appreciated, winter is coming!

Sorry I can't help but I read your post and was wondering what a "dynamo" is for charging a battery. The only dynamo I am familiar with measures horse power and generally you put your vehicle on it and it measures horsepower at the wheel.

Thanks!

A dynamo is another term for generator.
A dynamometer is used for measuring the horse power from an engine.

Thanks for the file Niemeyit, that has some helpful information but it is for a different Kubota. On the B2150 there is very little space for a larger alternator. I am curious if someone with a B2150 or B1750 that has this upgrade can provide a picture of how it is installed.

I just did this to my B2710. Got the alt. on ebay for $75.00 and the rest from Colman's for $98.00 All you need is the wiring harness, relay, the new alt. mounting bracket and a new fan belt. Was very easy to do and now I have all the power I need to run all the light and heater for my new cab.

On my 7510, it was a new bracket and a spacer, to keep it from hitting. Great upgrade.

4 lights, strobe, and now a radio!!!

I found out some things today from a Kubota parts diagram for the alternator set up. What replaces the dynamo is a double pulley with 2 bearings. There is a new bracket that raises the position of the alternator up and one belt goes as usual and the 2nd belt goes from the pulley to upgraded alternator.
Parts from Kubota to do this would be over $600 so back to finding some LED floodlights to cut back on the amperage used. If anyone has had success with LED lights, please pipe in!

thanks

I have two Maxxima MWL-05 work lights - current draw is minimal and the output is 600 Lumens. They work very well and bought these instead of alternator upgrade since it was less than half the price. Also replaced all the existing bulbs with LED bulbs (except headlights) as well and they are as bright or brighter than the originals. So I reduced the current draw even more. Could probably add another set of work lights pointing in the other direction... hmmmm another project :)

Aquetrac,
I bit the bullet and did the upgrade on my 2150 a few years ago. Bought all the Kubota parts except the alternator which came from Ebay. Expensive but well done by Kubota. It is exactly as you describe with the idler pulley setup. I did post a parts list here as well. The only area to save a few bucks is the air cleaner bracket. They replace the original with a fancy one that has a rubber strap so you can swing the air cleaner assy up to check or change the filter. The old one would have to be un-bolted but would still work fine....
I don't regret it, I run all the accessories I need now in the winter without worrying about the battery....
Best of Luck,
Marty
