I am looking at purchasing a B1700 with LA301 loader. I know a little bit about compact tractors, but I do not know much about this vintage (97) of Kubota. Is there any down falls or short comings of this tractor? I could use a bit of advice and this is the best post to get it from.

I've neveer heard of any problems with the B1700. I know they're very similar to the B2100 & B2400 which are good machines. I have a B2400 and enjoy its capabilities. I think the B1700 is the same tractor (frame etc) as the B2400 but with a smaller engine.

Double check the loader models available for the B1700. I think it can handle the LA351 which is the largest loader for the B2400. I think the LA351 loader is perfectly sized for the B frames.

Tim,

Like Peter, I also have a B2400. I'm pretty sure the LA301 loader is what was spec'd for the B1700/2100 with the LA351 (now LA352) loader to be used on the B2400.

Those plastic fender extensions make a BIG difference. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I'm quite happy with my tractor, especially since getting the loader last year.

I also belong to the B2400 club and have not had any problems(other than owner induced). You didn't mention what your intended uses were for the tractor, so it would be hard to tell you whether it's too big or small for your purposes. I can tell you that for their size they can do a tremendous amount of work but you have to realize that it is a small tractor and will not move mountains in two scoops!! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Hi Tim,
As a fellow Albertan and B1700 owner, I can say that the B1700 is a great machine for our environment. While it could use a little more power for plowing heavy snow uphill at -30c, it certainly has done everything I've asked of it. If money was no object but size was, I'd go for a B2410. Bear in mind that my 5 acres is up at 4200' altitude, so your power may vary.
The LA301 loader is a nice size for the machine.

I love my B1700 and have had no problems at all in over 400 hrs of use until very recently. Just this past week I noticed that a seal has started leaking on the front right axle and I have taken it in for repair.

I'd recommend any of the B1700, 2100, 2400 lineup.
