I submitted this post yesterday titled raytgal.. Being new to this ( I screwed up). I'm resubmitting as B1600 to see if I get more hits.

I recently obtained a Kubota that I was told was a B1600. I am trying to get all information I can about it. The dealer gave me a I&T K-201 shop manual and said I should use the info on the B6100D as this is the closest US crossover. Does anyone know for sure? I would like to obtain a parts manual. The problem I'm having a this time is - Just a couple weeks ago I had to replace one of the rocker arms that had snapped off. It was running fine for a little while and then started running bad again. This time I found that the rocker shaft had broken on the back end (by the last rocker). I had adjusted all the valves and it appears to be getting a lot of oil up there.
Any suggestions?

Welcome to TBN. You may get more response on the Kubota forum, but I know that they greys are like the black sheep of the family.

Broken valve train parts is a sign that the piston is hitting the valves. Happens say on a diesel engine that has a toothed timing belt--in Europe there are LOTS of them. You did not say which rocker broke, but I would say that if it were the last cylinder that you have a problem in the last hole.

I do not know Kubotas, but I will venture guesses at possibilities--assuming that the valve adjustments were done correctly. 1) The valve timing could be off so that the valve is not closed when the piston get there. 2)there is an over-rev situation where the valve "floats" and then gets smacked by a piston. 3) The clearance between head and piston is inadequate because a)The head and/or deck were shaved for straightness b)wrong head gasket was used (they vary thickness to establish deck height), c) Very sloppy rod journal.

None of my ideas are very nice and all are expensive. I hope that the problem is something else that I have not thought of I would encourage you to recheck the valve adjustment and set them at the looser side of specs.
