I am looking to purchase a small tractor and came upon a b-6100e with a landpride 48" mower for $4495.00 Is this too much? unknown number of hours. Tractor is in good shape.

Do you know the year and would this be a one owner tractor?

I am unsure of the year or the number of hours. If you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

You haven't given us enough information for anyone to give you an intelligent answer. If it isn't too old, not too many hours, it's in good shape, it's a bargain. On the other hand . . ., well, tell us something about it.

If you get a chance check the left hand clutch housing for a serial number.
The B6100E was introduce from 1976 to 1984..so you are looking at least 17 year old unit.
Does the B6100E come w/any other attachments..such as FEL etc..
If this a one ower tractor and looks in good shape also the mower..I would talk to the owner also take a test spin.

The only thing included with the tractor is a 48" landpride finishing mower. I have no idea on the number of hours, it has no tach or hour meter. The tractor is located at a dealership. Do you know if they make a FEL for this tractor.

Are you sure there is no hour meter? The B5100E's meter is under the hood next to the battery.

I've posted this information about my B7100D before, and I believe that it is true for the gear drive B6100s (B6100D and B6100E) as well.

For the gear drive B7100s, there WERE many attachments available when the tractor was new, such as mid-mower, FELs, front blades, etc. Parts for all of these implements still seem to be available.

The B7100 hydrostat model had a different design and would not use the attachments designed for the B7100 gear drive (that statement does not apply to 3-point equipment). The B1630 FEL (and the later B1630C version) was the FEL model that was also used on the B7100 hydrostat but would not fit the B7100 gear drive. I did a pretty thorough search and learned that NOBODY makes specialized equipment for the B7100 gear drive any more. There are 3rd-party manufactures that still make attachments for the B7100 hydrostat (such as a Woods FEL), but not the gear drive model. Unfortunately, a lot of the 3rd party manufacturers sales people don't know enough about the differences between hydrostat and gear drive Kubota B7100s, and almost sold me a FEL that would not have worked (I just happened to see the note about it not working on the non-hydrostat models).

Bottom Line: I don't think that you'll find a NEW FEL for the B6100 gear drive. You may be lucky enough to find a used one, though. In any case, if a FEL (or any other equipment specially designed for the B6100) is important to you, you might want to dig a little deeper and make sure that the equipment that is advertised as manufactured for the B6100 is in fact manufactured for the gear drive model and not the hydrostat model.

The price seems high for a B6100E. I own one and I would not spend that kind of money for what it is capable of doing. It is a fair mower and lacks weight/traction with turf tires to do any serious box blading. I plan to save the pennies and purchase a B7500.

If you want to know specifics of the 6100E performance please let me know. I will be glad to share my experiences with you.

Well after visiting w/my dealer..having coffee/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gifand spending my allowance for the week/w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif..the B6100E 2WD never offer a FEL by Kubota, but there are after market FEL which can be purchase, but my dealer said it would be unwise to install FEL..asking for trouble.
Thanks for your info.

My neighbour has a B6100 four wheel drive, not sure which model, with a FEL and rear blade. I often borrow it to load crushed stone onto my yard trailer. It is a nice little unit, but it is a little unit. The FEL is genuine Kubota but for a larger model. The tractor can become unstable with a full bucket at the top of the lift. I think the asking price is rather high given that the machine is probably 20 years old. My suggestion is to keep looking.

I have a B6100DT (4WD) manufactured in 1978. It has a Kubota FEL (Model B219, as I recall). My Father-in-law gave it to me 2 years ago so I really don't know about prices.

With just 2WD and no FEL I think you're looking at basically a $4495 lawnmower. Yes, you could hook up 3ph implements (plow, blade, rake, etc.) but my experience with my B6100 is that any time I do, I need to engage the 4wd and get some weight in the FEL to effectively pull/push them.
