Exactly, I think everyone in the building code dept is from Berkeley CA.

Dave This is area where the Indian Reservation is close so you do not want anything found that may be from the indian burial grounds.
Also all rocks are antique's
While I was working out there told about a rock quarry where sheets of rock could be gotten size of pick up bed about 1' thick . picked up a load and made a patio. Then when the sun was shining in the evening that patio glowed a golden color.
Under stand it is now ground up for the gold content. was shipped top Calif. by flat car loads on rail road .
Bo it is getting close to finish .
Going to have a celebration and BBQ.

That is exactly what happened. I'm in the same development as Bo. In the early 2000's the county seat, Prescott, saw a huge influx of yuppies from Southern Cal. Shortly after that, they magically passed a new county-wide zoning ordinance that applied to rural areas of the county, as well as city areas. I got lucky and heard that was going to go into effect, so I rushed and got in under the old zoning clearance regs in 2004. This allowed me to build with just 6-month check-ins with the zoning department to insure them that I had made "substantial progress". No physical inspections, other than the septic permit that I had to get before the zoning clearance.

Now I hear the horror stories, and am concerned for everyone building today. Problem is, there are so many people in the populated areas, that the folks in the rural areas can't possibly vote the nanny-staters out.

Glad Bo is about to be done with them. It's been an excruciating process, I'm sure.

That has been our experience. We paid the $25 building permit fee and asked when to call for inspections, the lady promptly said "we will not be coming to inspect". The septic was the only thing inspected, the well was a free certificate allowing us to drill, we got the certificate after the drilling and well report. If I had to go through what you are Bo, I would not be building there. Useless bureaucracy being administered by useless bureaucrats.

Bo, I have read your entire thread and I am impressed by not only the structure and your abilities but also your patience.

The tractor and all the tools go into the two 40 ft containers. The telehandler sits out. I leave the telehandler key with the neighbor.

A full week is planned. Electrical should be finished by Monday. The solar equipment should be delivered Wednesday. Front steps, back steps, also on the agenda. Plumbing should be finished by Thursday. Drywall might be finished by next Friday. 12 hour days!

Oh, I'm not missing the fun. I'm living vicariously through your posts!
We still have quite a bit of interior finish work to do on ours, but it is livable at this point. We should be spending much more time up there starting next year, after we retire. Keep up the good work. I hope to come by and see it in person some day.

Wow. You pulled all those romex cables through what looks like a 2" EMT conduit? I can't imagine that meets max conduit fill code, but it is not easy to tell from a pic. On the plus side, it looks like you are moving along nicely now!

Wow Bo! Some how I missed this thread and have not looked at it since you were talking about getting or moving a truck/trailer for moving your TH. It's been a while. Hat's off to you & your project!
Sorry to hear about your a-hole bldg dept. It's a sad comentary of what our country has become when someone's biggest obstacle in achieving their dream is not the months & months (or years) of hard labor & un-ending determination, but OUR govt. I'm suprised that some of those inspectors havn't dissapeared in the desert mysteriously. Good job man!
