Average GVWR

/ Average GVWR #21
My 05 Suburban K1500 5.3 has 7200# GVWR, curb weight is just shy of 5400#, leaving about 1800# for passengers and cargo. Its tow rating is 8100# but that figure is generous.

My "new" 97 Dodge 2500 V10 2WD SC is 8800 GVWR and the ~6000# GAWR/rear leaves a very generous cargo capacity over 3000#. I don't know the curb weight but I think it is in the mid-5000 range, being a standard cab without 4x4. The tow rating is something ridiculous but it's no modern F350 or 3500HD, that's for sure.

I'm not sure how they rate the payload exactly but my 2001 F-350 4x4, srw, crew cab is fine with up to about 3500 lbs in the bed, not even really noticeable. 3500 - 4500 lbs she starts to get a little saggy and if a tall load like hay, wanders a bit. It has a couple of hundred pound power tailgate on it too.
