Auger Adapter

I have a general brand one man auger. I bought it used from a home depot rental location. I would like to use it for ice fishing this year, but my auger shaft outer diameter is 1 inch, and the ice auger inter diameter is 3/4".

i cant seem to find and adapters online, and recommendations?

No problem for anyone with a lathe. Local school shop? Machine shops don't generally like small jobs, not enough $ for them.

You could take piece 1" pipe and use a bushing to size down. Or buddy with a lathe.

I would use black iron/ black steel pipe from home depot or the hardware store .....

Water pipe (aka. "black pipe") is not true to size. 1" pipe is slightly larger on the ID and about 1 1/4" on the OD. 3/4" pipe is >3/4" on the ID and >1" on the OD. You'll probably have to do some file work to make it fit.

Find someone with a lathe that will make one. It's like a 15-minute job including cutting the stock. Heck, I'd do it if you were closer.

Yes, a lathe would be the best option. The pipe idea is something that could be figured out and made with basic tools. Drill press is the only real specific tool need for the centering of location pins to hold onto the auger and bit. Hopefully someone one here has a lathe that is close enough to help out. Good luck with the endeavor.
