atv flail mower wanted

Haven't had any luck finding one. Has any one built one . i want a self powered as narrow as possible. Thanks Henry

We had one back in the 70s. It was a Mott hammer knife mower and had it's own BS engine. I think it was 48".

I have a 60" Swisher finish mower with a 14hp briggs on it. Would really like a air cooled VW powered flail mower though. Don't think a 1600cc motor would be enough power for even the small 6' flail mower I have.

Missed the narrow part, why would you want a narrow one?

It would be real simple to take a horizontal shaft engine and mount a knife or two on the shaft, wouldn't be any wider than just the engine. With a jack shaft and pully you could have more knives and still keep it as narrow as the engine.

Thanks I didn't really mean as narrow as possible. I meant preferably no wider with wheels than the ATV. I do mountain mowing with lots of trees to get around. Very uneven terrain. Some rocks are almost impossible to avoid. Also I find blade mowers are so dirty in dry dusty conditions. Many pine needles and cones too. So far weed eating works best but so time consuming. I spent 5 long days this year. I am 77 so that doesn't help.
