Pecan farming, you have an RK tractor so post your questions in the RK section first and foremost. That will get your question seen by other RK owners and RK reps. If something still doesn't get answered, then perhaps think about posting in the TYM section or elsewhere. Starting out by posting RK related stuff in a non-RK forum is just counterproductive.

Also, if you're not already a member, a bunch of us have got a pretty good RK owners group going on Facebook that's growing daily. Lots of good info there as well and always someone posting up pictures of what they're working on.

Good advise.

As often happens in forum discussions things get a bit messy and misunderstood.

Here's my take on this. RK is the acronym for Rural King Farm Stores. RK does not manufacture any piece of a tractor. RK is a Dealership selling TYM tractors badged RK under a contractual agreement between the two companies.

If I have misunderstood this arrangement please correct me.

So, anyone on TBN that owns an RK tractor and would like to have a forum discussion about it maybe they can get their answers by posting in the TYM forum here on TBN?

They've got a pretty standard OEM relationship.
As such, yes, TYM is manufacturing the tractor and putting an RK badge on it, but that doesn't mean that you can buy the same tractor from TYM.

In many OEM relationships, one company will resell another's preexisting model (70's Ford Courier was a Mazda pickup), though in others, there will be changes such that the vehicles have a variety of changes (VW Routan = Chrysler minivan). In the latter case, you can't just go to the source manufacturer's dealer and buy the identical model that has a different badge, and the manufacturer is not responsible to the end customer -- the company that has their badge is.

If you bought a VW Routan, you wouldn't be able to complain to Chrysler about it. If you buy an RK tractor, you don't talk to TYM.

Do you know who builds laptops for Dell, Toshiba, HP? Here's a hint: not dell, toshiba, or hp.
Same deal with RK & Tym.

"Same deal"?
Really?
We DO NOT know who builds laptops for Dell.
But......we DO know that TYM builds tractors for RK.

I guess I am a little confused now about posting in the TYM forum concerning RK tractors?? I am new to this forum but I thought I was in the RK tractor forum created for RK tractors. If I am in the wrong place please correct me. I too understand that RK does not manufacture the tractor but contracts with TYM to build them to their spec. in a crate. RK then assembles them with tires bought from here in the US and loads the tires, does the final fit and finish and then offers the 8 year warranty. I do have a dog in this as an RK 55 owner. It is a big investment for me. One of the things that sold me was the nice sales lady that was excited I wanted to test drive them and stood in the rain while I did so on a Saturday night vs. the local color dealers that acted like I was bothering them to ask any questions on a nice sunny day. I hope my tractor serves well for many years. It seem well built to me but it is a machine and they all break eventually.

You are in the right place. This is definitely where you should ask questions about your tractor, there are quite a few of us RK owners here and a couple of people from RK who take part from time to time as well.

There seem to be a handful of people on the site who are hostile towards RK for whatever reason and feel compelled to involve themselves in the conversations here. It's not too hard to filter out that nonsense though.

So well said. Almost like having a stalker following you around trying to make miserable for everyone else..

So true buy it's not just RK though. It's South Korean brands in general.

Don't understand it myself.. If you have no interest in a particular brand and others do, why bash it...

It seems to be the human nature of a few on the internet to bash anything and everything that they don't own or understand just because they can.

TYM builds for several brands.

If everyone who owns one of those brands posts in the TYM forum instead of their brand forum, not only would we no longer need the other forums, we would have to wade through an ever growing list of threads that have no bearing on our specific brand.

It is best to post any brand question in the brand forum first.

You are in the right place for RK tractors!
