If you're basically just using a web browser, then I don't see how a different operating system would impact you that much.

The last time I checked (quite a while ago) a MAC cost about twice a much as a Windows PC with similar processor, memory, and hard drive.

IMO, the solid state hard drives are the biggest game changers for PC performance in recent years. Since it also removes the moving parts from the hard drive component, I would expect it to also impact lifespan.

I would forego the ssd drives and go straight to the m.2 drives...much faster, more reliable and much longer lasting (more reads/writes). I love mine.

I had to google M.2. I had never heard of it. There's always something new coming out!

Either that or they don't understand (or can't explain) exactly what they want, so the software as purchased or developed meets the stated requirements, but they do not meet the actual needs of the end users.

I have been coding for over 25 years. If people could tell me what they are trying to accomplish instead of 的 want a new field here? I could help them out much, much better.

But no, we add a field just like they asked and then it takes them 6 months to realize that didn稚 fix their problem.

I'm the OP on this and my update is that I bought an Apple laptop. I managed to lock myself out of it the first day but after that am happy as a clam. After you get past a day or so, it's just wonderful and easy to navigate. Thanks to everyone.

At my old company, I asked for a new laptop because my current company issued one was showing some problems. Company sent me a laptop with Windows10. I sent the new lap top back LOL

There are dozens...some of the more popular ones are Android (developed by Google), Linux of which there are many many flavors and interfaces...UNIX but mostly a CL Interface...

Most of the Linux Kernels can be run directly from a bootable CD/DVD....makes it easy to test drive on a system without writing anything to a hard drive...

I noticed at the company I used to work for (retired now for 2 years) that upper management all got issued Apple laptops. The rest of us were issued Dells with Windows 7. That alone told me something!

The upper management aren't expected to get any actual work done
