Anyone trade a BX25D for a new BX23S?

I think you can see there, performance dips when you add a quick coupler. All tractors do this.

I have the 23s with it and now the 5740 (my M6800 quick did not) has it....totally worth what little capacity you loose....Lots of options and oh so so easy to swap out implements....and I switch them a TON.

The difference is not dramatic.

The difference is not dramatic.

The % difference on a 5740 is likely not noticeable, however Minus 20% lifting capacity on a small tractor like a BX23S is pretty dramatic IMHO, at least for my use. Thinking back over my 3.5 years of ownership, there have been many, many loads I lifted with my BX25D that turns out I could not have lifted with the new BX23S w/ Skid-steer type QA. I considered moving up a size in tractor, but the BX platform is adequate for my 2 acres especially now that most of the heavy work is done. thanks all for contributing!

Prime example why I bought Jery's QA and his forks. The difference to OEM is night and day on my BX2670. As much as I like the 80-series, I just can't push myself right now because of that.

I will admit there have been 2 times the little loader was not up to the task..a pallet of bricks and my military genearator. The generator I ended up lifting one end of it and dragging. My transfer fuel tank on a pallet if I put 75 gallons in there it can move it from the trailer to the garage but it is loaded down big time and I am 6 inches from the ground. I have a pressure testing kit I have not used yet but plan to next time I take back ho off. However, for grapple work and working brush I have not found its limit....sure I could really quickly find its limit on a big log, but I just saw it a few more times...but mostly 500 to 600 lbs of brush we never can grab with the grapple because of the physical size of that amount of brush and not lift capacity. The little BX with SSQA will do 95% of the work I need but a few things I wished my 5740 was here.

I made the upgrade a few months back from BX25D to BX23S... and I'm not looking back!

I have not run into any situation where the lower loader capacity has been a problem (but sometime I probably will.)

But I have removed the loader to put on the snowblower a few times this winter and it is a complete joy compared to the BX25D. All-in, removing the loader and installing the snowblower is 10-15 minutes. No trouble at all. BX25D was nowhere near as easy. It's remarkable how much Kubota improved the BX23S.

I also have Jery's QA and the moveable forks. Easy to install and it works great. I now routinely go back and forth between my bucket/forks in seconds. BX owners that use their FEL a lot, know its limitations and the tare weight is important in maximizing your loads.

Hi, the OP here. I decided to forego the BX23S upgrade. My current tractor is perfect and I really have all the accessories I need. My original selling dealer gave me what I thought was a reasonable deal on the new tractor, but the trade value on my current tractor was a few $k short of what I was looking for. But in reality it wasn't the money, once I found that the lifting ability on the FEL with SSQA was 20% less than my (perfectly good) BX25D, I lost interest. Upgrading to a new tractor with less capability is not really an upgrade for me. Hopefully will start looking for my retirement home soon, and with it a larger shed to house perhaps a new B2650. Oh and an almost-large enough ~12 car garage for the other toys, LOL. Thanks all..

I traded my bx25 in on a BX23s. Overall I'm satisfied with it an all the options I got for it. Planning on adding the cab this summer also. IMG_1020.JPG

why did you trade in?

I liked how the loader lever was moved from on the loader of the to fender an the tilt steering. My wife doesn't understand but I had 474hrs on my bx25 an I hated the position of it. As soon as I saw the info on the BX23s on the forums an YouTube I had to have it. My local dealer that I bought my bx25 from only wanted to sell me a bx25D cause they had a bunch they wanted to get rid of to make room for the new ones an told me to wait till end of summer before any good rebates were available for the BX23s. So after I got pretty much the same runaround from another dealer I got mad an called Messicks told them what I wanted an 2 weeks later my new BX23s was ready for pickup with all the accessories that I wanted an they didn't try to sell me something I didn't want.
