We have a Traxter and it is the workhorse on our property. Its primarly use is pulling a 15 cu. ft. utility trailer loaded with who knows what. I have hauled countless cords of deadfall out of the bush and hundreds of tons of gravel, etc. My wife also uses it for working in the gardens. It doesn't get many miles but lots of hours. It is the most versatile piece of equipment we have. The F2400 has a much easier life - it only gets used to mow grass and blow snow, and occasionally do some grading.

Boondox-Have you seen a Yamaha Vino? They run pretty strong with the exhaust and clutch restrictors removed. Unrestricted they will run about 45 M.P.H., and are pretty powerful at lower speeds. If you test ride one and it will not go faster than 40 M.P.H. it is still restricted. We have modified all that we have sold with no ill effects, and the modification will not effect the warranty at my shop. We remove the restrictors for no charge at the point of sale. Does Honda still make an 80cc Elite scooter? That is a good machine, and if it won't climb the hill you should stay off the hill.

I used to have a Yamaha Virago 750. I was abit disapponted in the power. I guess I should have opted for the 1100, but it was my first (and only) bike, so I stayed towards the low end.
A guy at work just bought a Yamaha and had straight pipes put on. Man, that thing sound fantastic! If I had a bike I would definitly upgrade the exhaust. Sounds like a Harley.

I took my wife, son, 2 nephews, and neighbor riding in Wisconsin this weekend. They have nice trails there. We rode over 100 miles this weekend. I have had an atv for 6 years to help put in foodplots.This was our first family outing and we had a blast.I have a 1999 Honda 450ES(with electric 3pt hitch).

What is the smallest ATV Yamaha makes for kids? My 9 YO is about ready.Marty

I've had a Honda Rancher ES 4x4 for a year and it is a BLAST. It'll do 55mph and go up hills that are hard to even walk up. Pull a 5x8 trailer and take the 3 of us for a ride(wife and baby).
I've had people take it for a spin and the look on their face when they return is really something. They love it.

I am 5 hours north of you near Joliet. I have worked in your area many,many times. Marion, DuQuion, Dowell, Elkville, Christopher, Mulkeytown, Ina, Sesser, Ziegler, Murphysboro. These are all towns my company has painted water towers in. I love that BBQ joint on 51 on the south side of Du Quion. Looks like a steam engine I believe. Larry's maybe? There was one in Christopher too about 15 years back. Small world.

Worst part of atving is no where to ride near me. Do they let you ride in the national forest still? I know they were trying to get rid of atvs there.

We have a Polaris Sportsman 500. Stepson calls it a utility vehicle... I have pulled him many times from spots he got his Honda 400ex and his gal's 300ex (I think) stuck.

I have climmed hills he can't. I have come up behind him on a hill because he was half way up and stopped, hanging onto the brake and awaiting someone to ease him back down.

I have scratches, he has nasty scars. I am 53... He is 25.

He has a rider suit complete with high boots.. Looks like Spiderman. I have Levi's and work boots.

He likes to jump. I like to make the jumps with my Kubota.

A few days ago I saw a Yamaha ATV in a sporting goods store that was similiar to a Kawasaki Mule. It was set up for hunting and had a rear facing back seat instead of a bed. I gave up on getting someone there to give me some info on it so I went to the Yamaha web site but could not find anything about it. I would be interested in one with a bed instead of a back seat. Do you have any info on it?

The Raptor 80 sells for $2499. No ATVs allowed in the Shawnee any more. Our regions best riding is in St. Joe state park (MO), or Turkey Bay at the Land Between the Lakes (KY).

I would like to see a picture of what you are describing. Yamaha doesn't offer anything like the Mule. I wish they would, but it seems that Kawasaki has that market for now. Yamaha made a pretty cool ATV in 1988 called a Terrapro. I would gladly snap one up if anyone ever wanted to trade one in. It didn't have a bed on it, but it had a rear P.T.O. and came with a 60 inch mower attachment. It is really only good for finish mowing, but makes a very nimble mower with the benifits of an ATV.

Yamaben, have you ridden at Land Between the Lakes? It sounds interesting but a 4 hour drive is kind of far if its not worth it. There is still a little area of national park land near London KY open.

You've hit on my one major love- dirt bikes!! I started out on a Honda XR250R, then on to a CR500R (big jump!!) and now currently own an XR650R. As you can see, I love Honda big bores. My wife wanted a sport 4-wheeler (as opposed to a bike) so she can putt around with the kids (2 and 5), so we went lookin'. Honda's 400EX did not have reverse, so she ended up with a Yamaha 660R Raptor! I'm in the St. Louis area and we ride at St. Joe quite often. Went to KY Lake this summer with the boat and checked out Turkey Bay at LBL. It looks cool! I will ride there before it snows this year!! Maybe we can get together at St. Joe or Turkey Bay sometime. LMK.

Hey, John. I got an XR100 when I was 11. Road it in to the ground and then got an XR250R in 1994. I bought it brand new, but it was the '93 model. Now I have BMW F650ST. It's a single cylinder, Rotax engine. Gotta love those thumpers.
