Sad to see that Honda is ditching the Rincon

Absolutely love Honda atv's. Grew up on an ATC 200M, the family hunt camp still has an 85 Big Red, and I just purchased an 87 Honda 200sx quad for my kids. Honda's are hard to beat when it comes to reliability.

My first ever ATV was a Honda back in 1987. I bought a new Honda in 2021 also. But other than that I've had Arctic Cat, Polaris, Can-Am, and Suzuki and honestly I'm quite shocked that Honda still does so well with sales. Honda ATVs are low power, low feature machines with very high price tags. I could be wrong but even their top of the line model is less than 40 HP. Conversely, the competitors give you that same power on their entry models, and their top of the line models are as much as 100 HP. Also, Honda has traditionally used smaller tires, old fashioned drum brakes and solid axles on most models, and no CVTs are available. This means that Honda is behind the competition in every single metric.

Having said that, Honda does make quality machines and I suppose their sales numbers show that people still value quality over specs and features.

I will take quality over specs and features ANY day! That's why I own a Honda Rubicon and a Kubota tractor. Love my Rubicon, it's a beast of a work machine that never lets me down. Same with my Kubota...

I have zero need for nor interest in a 100 HP "go-fast" ATV. I was looking for a smaller, lighter-weight SxS to take out in my woods when conditions were a bit too soft more my tractor. One of the reasons I settled on a Honda Pioneer 520 was actually the transmission. The it's reliable and engine braking works well. I will agree on the tires. Stock is 24". However, that is easily dealt with. I have 27" on it now.

I have been a Honda ATV owner since 90s, last ATV I purchased I still own. It is a yellow 2004 Honda Rincon, brought me so much fun and helps so much around the house. Was even able to pull a 1200 pound moose from the woods one hunting season.
Honda decided to ditch the Rincon and added a feature or two to the Rubicon-which is also a great ATV.

Funny how I paid 6,200 dollars in 2003 for my 2004 Rincon and in 2023 the Rincon costs 9,600. True they added EFI, 20 more CC and Electric steering but thats it. My 2004 runs like new even with 5,000 miles on it.
They never ditched it, they renamed it the Rubicon.

jesh, looks like a polaris now., rubicon was always a model. it was below the rincon.

The Rubicon is the best package Honda offers. When they released the Foreman Rubicon in Canada, Rincon sales tanked so bad that Honda stopped selling it up here.

When i bought my atv 02 rancher. the rubicon was a cheaper quad. it was built off the forman frame, and still needed manual shifting. it was also solid rear axle. and was around 5400 hundred if i remember, the rincon was an automatic and irs and bigger engine and faster. it was a trail bike, and retailed around 6k.

the Rincon was considered the best "trail" bike at the time, i believe it might have been a 650, but we are going years back. all i know was it fast and nimble, it was not a utility atv, more of a crossover with the sports
