Eddie, it's good to see you are gettin' it all arranged like you want it. I can tell by the smiles on their faces that your "crew" approves of your lodge approach to decoration. I think they felt 2nd class being relegated to your shop.;) I like the busted tile backsplash too. I have a 4" backsplash around my counter and it's not enough for someone as sloppy as me. The changes you've done really give your place a masculine appeal and seem to do just exactly what you want. I do think you can do better than the red valance on your kitchen window and the green paint above your cabinets. For some reason, those colors just don't seem to go with the tile and backsplash. You know me. . . I can't keep my mouth shut when I really should. :) Great job overall!

Eddie, the place looks great. I agree that the back splash was a great idea and looks really good. I'm sure this project was a needed process due to you still living at the house that all of you lived in. Looks like it's taken on a new name- "Eddie's Place".

I agree. I took the red valance down and then put it back up. I don't care for the color, and I'm not sure about they style, but I do need something up there. For now, it doesn't bother me, but it is something that I want to change. Color is where I struggle, and for now, I don't know what should be there.

As for the green, that's going to change too. My parents will be here pretty soon and my mom likes to paint. In fact, she's they type of person that gets upset if I do something that she likes to do. I'm going to have her paint the rest of the house whils she's here just to keep her busy and something to accomplish. For the kitchen, I'm thinking of a sage green. I want to stick with my lodge and nature theme, and I think the right shade of gree will look real good with the maple cabinets.

The hallway will be papinted the cofee cream that I used under the glaze on the walls in my front room.

Any suggestions for a color to paint the kitchen?

Or what I can use instead of the red valance over my window?

Thanks,
Eddie

PS This sure is one heck of a tractor site. Where else could a guy ask for painting and curtain advice?

Eddie, this is just a suggestion and by no means the only good solution, but I would paint that wall very close to the lightest shade of tile chips in your backsplash and then match one of the other chip's color for the window curtains. That would continue the earthtones and still leave the wall light reflective in case you ever want to add lighting above the cabinets.

...and it's okay to talk about curtains, shades, or wall colors on a tractor forum as long as you don't use words like "ambiance" and window "treatments."

Looks great and will look even better when you sort out the colors.

How did you do those curved looking stairway bannisters?

Those are sold at Home Depot and Lowes for decks. I just used them for my stairs instead.

Hi Eddie,

You're right about the walls. They look really good. I really like the look of the trowel finish and it really adds to the lodge atmosphere. Very nice job on everything and way to hang in there with what lifes thrown you. keep up the great work and keep postin' pictures when you do.
