I rented a Wheatheart several years ago I got 1 post driven in an hour before it started leaking fluid. Granted it was middle of summer and hard ground.
I like the vibrating type I'm sure it's easier on the posts. Wish I could rent one before I threw down money.

Try your Bobcat dealer. A lot of the small orchards around here rent a mini-ex with the attachment to put in posts.

No one around rents them that I found. The one I rented was from Pasture Management and they're over hour away.

Same for us in central WI. We couldn’t find anyone to rent them so we ended up buying.

I looked at the Bradco website and with all the options it was $12k.

The neighbor has a old Farmall that has a old post pounder mounted on the front. The tractor has the narrow front end so you can fit it tight areas. It does quite well too.

Kubota dealership didn't offer anything. Bobcat reps Blue Diamond which has a driver and a vibratory driver.

I've got an old Shaver HD8 that works pretty well, it would be nice to have some of the more modern safety items and I could see where the hydraulic adjustments would be nice rather than the screw cranks. But the screw crank adjustments aren't horrible to work with either.
Two days ago I put in a few posts for a new pasture I'm fencing off, this is a 9" post at the small end and I put it 3' deep. I did sharpen a point on the end as it is a big post, the ground was plowed about 10" deep a month ago. As always the usual first 12" is easy, I will add the wetter the ground the better and it will still be solid.

The local Farm Bureau has a self propelled driver that they rent out for about $100 a day. My cousin just rented it to set quite a few post. He was very impressed with it.
You may want to check around. Hes not a Farm Bureau member so that isnt a requirement.

I live in colorado, and I have a post driver, and yes the soil gets dry and the soil gets like a rock,

I prefer putting in posts in the spring when things are wet, they drive very easily, when it is hard, I use a steel pipe that has been pointed and drive it first, (some companies call them rock breakers,) actually I have two of them oen about 3" and one about 6 1/2" I will drive the small one and most of the time I acn then drive the wood post, if it is really hard, I will drive the larger one as well and pull it and then drive the wood post,
