Wife and I usually go to the "cheap seat" movies in Winston. $2.50 to get in, large popcorn and soda for $9 and free refills (the popcorn is the best I've ever had by the way).
Well, this afternoon, had nothing to do and it was hot. Nothing was really playing at the "cheap seats", but wanted to go and see "Iron Man" so we went to the "regular theaters" in Winston.
Movie states in the paper that start time is 4 pm.
Get to the movies at 3:35, plenty of time, but a line about 70 yards long. Wait in line, get into the movies at 3:55 pm ($14.50 for the two of us which is the "special rate" for afternoon flicks). Wait in line for popcorn and soda, which ran $11). I felt like I was in the dang Army hurrying up and waiting in that darn line.
Now the fun starts.
Get into the actual theater and end up watching commercials for 20 minutes!!! (before the previews even start). After the commercials (Which I could watch on T.V) have to put up with 5 or 6 previews.
The movie actually started at 4:35.
I told my wife, that is the last time I ever go to the regular movies (first time I've been to the "regular" movies in two years).
Apologies for the rant, but when we go to the "cheap seats", no more than 5-10 people in front of us, get right in, popcorn and soda get to us fast, and the movie actually starts the time is listed in the paper, with no commercials or previews.
Does everyone have the same experience at the "regular" movies? If so, why do you put up with it?
