Can't remember when I last went to a movie but it must be about 20 or more years ago.:D :D :D

I do remember the last time I went to a movie. I took my two little girls to see Song of the South in the spring of 1972 when they were 3 and 6 years old.:) I won't say that I'll never go to another one, but I think it would be a pretty safe bet.:D

I am glad to hear I am not the only one like this. The last move we went to was "The Man From Snowy River" in 1982.

There is probably no bigger movie buff than I am on this forum.

The commercial thing is a real hassle. I notice there is a lot less of it lately. What you can do is call and ask when the movie actually starts and show up then. I generally come 10 to 15 minutes late and miss most of the BS

I like going to movies. I like the better sound and that is part of the movies. I'd bet there are some here who have as good sound system in their homes as the movie house has. Unfortunately, I don't have time to go to movies. Ain't that sad? Seems the older I get the less time I take time for relaxation.

It probably isn't long till commercials on HBO, Showtime etc. I can see it now, that great commercial; "Viva Viagra". It will be all down hill from there.

The Harry Potter movie released last summer was the FIRST movie the wife and I have seen togather. :D We like the Potter movies and the oldest daughter wanted to see the movie so we went on a weekday early showing. This is the first movie theater I have been in since the early mid 90's.

Don't see much reason to go back either. For what it cost to see the movie we could buy the DVD a couple times over and watch it when we wanted. And take breaks when we wanted.

I thought the crappy sound from sat/cable was the broadcasters fault. The loud levels of sound in the theater is unreal. It hurt.

Popcorn was horrible and of course everything is beyond overpriced.

The seats where very nice high back rockers on a very steep incline. A very tall person would have to sit in front of you to block the movie.

The couch is more comfortable.

The only reason we will go back is if the kids really drag us back. Maybe the next Potter movie. Maybe.

After years of wanting we finally bought a new PC for home. This one has a TV card and software that allows the PC to act as a DVR. Real nice. Only burned a few shows onto DVDs but so far it works.

I'm sure I'll start recording our favorite movies which are almost always OLD movies since not many movies are that interesting to us. Can't wait for The Quiet Man to be played again. :D

Later,
Dan

We don't go to the movies. It's just not a fun experience anymore, and after it's all said and done, I'd rather of done something else.

We rent our movies from Netflix, but allot of what we rent are not even movies. We like to watch tv shows this way too. Right now, we watching all the episodes of Boston Public. We did the same with 24, but after season 5, gave up on that one. If it sounds interesting or different, we'll give it a try.

Now for the bad news. Our local news station did a test of cleanliness of every movie theater within an hours drive of our area. We have three theaters in Tyler, but they found ten for their tests. They took swabs and rubed them on the arm rests, seats and head rests.

The findings might just make you stop going to the movies.

In every singe case, the arm rests were contaminated with fecal matter. It was at such a high degree that even the lab was shocked. The guy who did the tests said that he had never seen such high levels of fecal matter in any other tests that he's ever done.

People don't wash their hands after going to the bathroom. Then they put their dirty, nasty hands on the arm rests and the fecal matter transfers to the arm rest. How much of it ends up on you, the movie watcher? and even worse, how much of it ends up on your popcorn or other snacks that you eat with your bare hands after touching the arm rest full of fecal matter?

It's just too gross for us, and I'm not a germaphobe. Not even close, but I do draw the line on other peoples turds and eating with my bare hands after touching stuff contaminated by them.

Nowadays we usually rent or buy movies, but we do do once or twice a year.
Last big line I stood in was either Orange Clockwork or 2001 A Space Odyssey at Grauman's Chinese theater in Hollywood.

The wife and I probably go to the movies 4-6 times a year. There is a theater in Penn Yan, NY that still uses real butter on the popcorn...love it! :)

Funny you mentioned the bathroom. I went to go for a pee break during the movie. I was wearing sandles. BIG MISTAKE.

Second mistake was when we were leaving and my wife informed me to wait for her while she used the restroom. I told her she may not want to from what I saw in the mens room. She went anyway. She came back in two minutes.

Again, I just find it amazing that "throngs" of people go to the movies nowadays.
