I have been wanting a CTL or skidsteer for many years. Wondering if any of u that follow auctions have noticed lower prices? I figure with all the Covid fear nowadays that maybe I could pick up a deal?

Mostly just for yardwork, prep for sidewalks etc. I also want to tear out my tar driveway which is crumbling, redo the base, and pour new concrete.

A small to midsize would be fine for me. But would like something that can clear the side of a dump truck for loading? Not sure if the small ones will. I've operated Bobcat, Cat, Case, and John Deere.

Something around a T-190 roughly. Have heard good reviews about New Holland as well. My budget is $10-15k.

Looking on purple wave.... all of the machine hours seem like they must be lying?

Lots of machines sold in last few days for $10-15k with under 2000 hours on the listing. Are the rewinding the meters or what? Screenshot_20200406-171639_Chrome.jpg

I followed auctions about 10 years ago. I actually bid $17,000 for an excavator but was outbid. And the timing of your thread is unique because I recently googled government auctions. It could be fun. I know people that have bought things and we’re happy.

Haven't checked in with Ritchie Bros other than browsing their website. I'm in central MN, about an hour west of the Twin Cities.

I gave up on going to auctions. I tried bidding on a flatbed trailer and on a fairly nice ditch witch trencher. Both sold for nearly what I could get a new one for.

In the past, I was able to get some nice deals. Not so anymore. Someone actually bid over $500 fo a pallet of rusted bike frames.

Please put your general location in your profile.
It can often make a difference responding, knowing if you are in Florida, or Alaska.

Bought stuff from auctions for many years. Municipal auctions that is. The trend toward on-line has really messed up prices. They have captured such a large audience, that's they are not even worth attending (on-line) any more.

In person auctions around have been cancelled, post-poned or gone on-line.

In general though, prices have been sky high as of last year. But, I attributed that often to the dollar going to heck. You only need to price new commercial stuff to see that.

Kubota SVL75-2 Low Hours Track Skid Steer Loader - heavy equipment -...

Well, so far it seems like auction prices are just as high as they've ever been. However, I have found a couple options around North Dakota that seem like good prices. Anyone care to comment on this one; pros/cons etc? Is this a good price, the guy emailed and said it has 2200 hours.

Thanks!

Yes, there is obviously a HUGE price difference. But that has 2000 less hours. I'm purposely searching North Dakota because with the way oil prices are, the bankruptcies should start stacking up big time. And I'm thinking that a lot of things will be sold to raise cash before/during/after.

I think I'm gonna set up a phony email address to communicate with them and see how far it goes. Obviously if they ask me for my credit card number that will raise a red flag lol.

...Auctions.....how in the world can you be the last guy with your hand in the air and think you are buying something right...
Dealers bring things they can't sell to the auctions... The nice stuff never makes it there.

Lol thanks! I'll be the first one to admit that I'm not sure! That's why I'm trying to do my research. It may be that I just end up going private party if someone is in bad enough shape to sell one $5-10,000 off.

It's a nice dream but I would bet money it's a scam.........
