Let us know how it goes if you end up going that route.

I have a lot of fine circular scratches from someone using a dirty cloth to clean the windshield on my pickup truck. Of course, I only noticed it 2 days after I bought it used.

Not looking for perfect but at least better than it is now. With the sun low and just right, the scratches are very very noticeable.

Nice thing about Michigan is, we have no cost glass replacement as mandated by the State legislature. I think that came about from all the graved trucks bouncing along on our terrible roads and busting motorists windshields. Cheaper for the state to mandate that, than actually fix the terrible roads....

My other comment was to inject a little humor, nothing more.

Ok this is about your wiper blades, , everyone needs to clean them the dirt sticks to the rubber and that scratches your windshield, also I don't use rain- x why to me it leaves a oily feel to it, with holds dust and dirt, and that is like a fine sand paper scratching your windshield.
PS go clean the wipers with a wet paper towel and you will be amazed and the dirt on it.

Sure, thats right. But the windshield is forever damaged. Now the question is best course to resolve.

I asked a detail shop about a similar thing a few years ago, I was told the amount of distortion you'd get would make you sick....literally. When you think about it, a magnifying glass is a shaped piece of glass thicker in the center tapering out to the edges. If you're polishing out the scratches/pits you have to remove the material on either side of the scratchs equally, everywhere across the complete windshield.
I wonder if a ceramic coating will fill the scratches on a microscopic level? I know when I had my truck ceramic coated, they did the windshield and it was amazing the difference. Mind you it was a new truck so not really picked or scratched. I know when I had the windshield replaced, I couldn't drive it in the rain until I had it recoated. It works so well, I don't even need the wipers....just a thought.

Just buy a new windshield and spend the time polishing your knob instead....
You’re the one with the “mitts off your cucumber” comment in every post you make. Says a lot about what’s on you mind, eh?

Stop trolling my thread.

I think the best way is a new windshield, with the wiper cleaning is just part of maintenance going forward from the replacement of a windshield.
PS seems you have nothing to lose by trying a
8Pcs Cerium Oxide Powder 4 OZ Glass Watch Screen Scratch Polishing Kit Pad. That costs 26 dollar's on ebay,,, if it does not work === it's worth trying it.
this is the kit i gooogled I have nothing to do with ebay 8Pcs Cerium Oxide Powder 4 OZ Glass Watch Screen Scratch Polishing Kit Pad. | eBay

What I was thinking, but was hoping to see if anyone tried it first to see results.

These scratches are not the typical WW lines you would see. These look like steel wool “squiggles” scratches.
Speaking of which, some motorhome owners have had success using ooooo steel wool and a gentle touch to polish windshield glass.
For a quick polish, clean the glass first, then use a solid paste wax on the glass.
That's old methods, today there are some specific products marketed for this use.
EDIT: This is for glass, not plastic/acrylic windshields.
