Maybe time for a new feeder?

Can’t say how old as it came with the property… I bought in 2017

Yes, yes and yes.

We found that HB's like clean food and clean things to eat out of. The bacteria can prove fatal and I think they sense things and stay away if not clean.
Wife cleans things up and fresh food every three days or less. It's paid off.

I soak, wash and rinse often but it’s faded and plastic is brittle.

The porch area is 27’ above the turf and no end the birds coming and going averaging 3 days max to refill.

Often the competition would be fierce.

Brought it in during the pandemic so maybe they forgot?

We had a couple for a few days, but it seems they've gone on. Usually we have 30-50 this time of the year. Hopefully they'll come back in soon. We love Hummers!

We have maybe three, not like normal.

I like glass feeders that disassemble with the opening large enough to get a bottle brush into them for cleaning. The pan portion should be smooth for cleaning as well.

Right now - four pair. As best that I can make out. That's just about normal for me. Maybe a pair or two more - with time.

Very few HB's at the feeders but I see them in the yard and flying into and out of a row of Norway Spruce trees. Must be eating bugs and caring for babies.

We went away for 2 nights, and I mistakenly thought that 1 quart would hold the kids over since travelers have been moving north and we are off of our high spring peak. WRONG. Feeders were dry as a bone when we got back. I made new juice that night and stayed up until it cooled enough to fill the feeders and hung the full feeders by moonlight. By morning, all was well. Whew!!

Good Afternoon,
We seem to get a greater quantity of HB’s at our Vermont house than the Ct house ! Maybe it’s the view is better in the mountains !

Only problem is that sometimes we are away for 2 weeks , so in the fall before they return south they go through that juice pretty quickly!

They are certainly entertaining to watch, especially when they are dive bombing each other at the feeder ! 😉😁

They're Back!!!
We usually have 3 feeders out that are cleaned and refilled twice (or more) per day. This year we'd only seen on Hummer, so we cut back to one feeder. Now, here it is almost July and suddenly we have gobs of hummers, just overnight. They're feeding about a dozen at a time, all day.
I have to wonder, were the original ones scouts, or just why the hummers were so late this year.
...yes, we love Humming Birds.

Our feeder is 1/3 full, but the juice is getting old.
Hummer came by window to let us know

Has increased here a little. I have two feeders (3/4 cup each) changing every three days to keep them fresh. Now may have to increase the amount I put in them.

Still Nada... like so many they may have relocated away from Oakland?

Looks like I've topped out at four pair. Pretty soon I should be seeing the young.

We are between the camel humps now. One hump in spring when the Rufous are going through to Canada and Alaska, one hump in the fall when they are headed south. The rest of the year is mostly resident Annas that stay all year and some Rufous.

We have not had many at the feeders by the house but I have seen them repeatedly zoom into some spruce trees near the house. I figure they're having babies and eating the little black bugs I see near there. I did see what I believe is a little HB and an adult has buzzed my red hat a couple times but I've seen neither at the window.

We just keep changing the fluid and not worrying about it.

Do hummers go dormant in very hot weather? We had 5 days above 100, with a high of 107. The feeders were untouched, until the temp dropped back into the 90s, then they drained two feeders in one day. Has anybody else seen this?
