Anyone else have an unusually large number of hummingbirds this year?

We have resident Annas Hummingbirds out here and I kept feeding a number of them all winter. But the pace has picked now that travelers are showing up. I moved the second feeder (put up spring/summer only) to a spot I can reach better but it has not picked up as many visitors yet.

It is time to put up a second feeder. I feel like there is too much fighting going on!

I almost forgot to get my feeders out of the attic. Was out back a couple of weeks ago and heard one buzzing around so I got them down and filled them. We don't have enough that they are fighting yet but a few are feeding pretty regular. They bug me when they spend more time attacking each other than they do feeding.

I am guessing you did not get that 2nd feeder up, I am swamped over here on my end of the peninsula. Either that that or the migration routes all go though my place this year :shocked:

Still only 2 here, just showed up a week ago at the feeder. Usually by mid-summer I need to refill the feeder every 2 weeks. Did have some fighting, but it seems that this was all worked out last year as the 2 that would fight would come in from different sides and not be there at the same time too often.

We rarely get any in the early spring but in the last week have had seen three birds multiple times at feeders. Have two feeders up now and will go to four or five as the season moves along.

Alright Gooey! What did you do? I just put up fresh nectar and they seem nervous. Normally they come running as I am hanging it. Did you divert them?

Maybe they don't recognize me with my quarantine beard growth. I am starting to look like a grizzly old fisherman with full beard and no hair cut since January. But I am taking regular showers!
