I put new tires on my 2007 skid steer when I bought it in 2015. Now it is time to change the tires. Any suggestions on how to remove the old tires for the rims will be appreciated.

I was under the impression that you cant removed the tires if they have been foamed, by I have never tried. My guess is you could chop or shear them off, but getting the bead off the rim will be labor intensive. I think the bead gets "glued" to the rim and could be very difficult to remove.

I have always heard it was a job for a sawzall.

Circular saw with a metal cutting disc. Been there and done that a few times already. Wear eye protection is a must. Burning rubber gases can really gag you, so stand up wind or wear a paint mask with filters.

Depending on the tire size, age of the foam and the foam used, more than 2 cuts could be required.

The sawzall will chock on the steel belts and kill the blade.

Once close enough to the steel rim, hand tools are required.

You have to saw them off.

better trade them for 4 rims without tires, someone could use foam filled somewhere, tried removing one years ago and even when we got the tire off the stuff was stuck bad to the rim ended up tossing them

Thanks all, doesn't seem like a job for the faint of heart. The tire dealer said that it would cost about $200 additional to have the old tires removed from the rims.

After your responses and watching a few you tube videos I suspect that is a cheap $200

How much are new rims? Is the dealer wanting $200 per tire or total?

4570man, $200 for all, don't know about the price of new rims.

Ruffdog, I watched that same video. I think there may be some difference between a lawn mower tire and a skid steer tire. I watched a farmer's video where he cut his skid steer tires off with a chain saw.

At $200 for the set I’d pay them and be done.

This is how you remove the tire and foam.

Maybe someone in your neck of the woods has a setup like this.

We had a roofer friend that always had a skid steer with a mast on it. He always wanted our bald tires. Bald is easy on people's yard and don't tear grass. He used old skid steers with tail wheels.

No he has forklift masts that fit bobcats. The one he uses have a tail wheel in the back that swivels. It lifts the rear skid steer whéels off the ground so it only turns on front two wheels. Tail wheels just swivel like casters. Does not tear up yard grass. I have one also but not a mast on front. I don't roof.

Wow, have never seen a mast like that or a tail wheel on a skid steer either. Searched on Google and found a couple of videos. Very cool attachments.
