I was widening my driveway yesterday, bogging down the engine while digging. At that point I thought I noticed the Robin getting considerably louder. Almost like an air leak of some kind. Has anyone ever had any thing similar happen? If so what did you find? I only have 60 hours so far.

Maybe an Intake or exhaust leak, muffler burn out with this few hours? I got out and it sounded like it was coming from the exhaust side or front of the engine. I parked it to let it cool down. I haven’t started it since then, waiting for the weekend to carefully go over it and check everything out. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks

Check and see if the muffler bolts have come loose.

Was gonna be my first move, I'm hoping it's something that simple. Thanks

I know I have mentioned this before. This engine has had a bad vibration about midway in between throttle settings since day one. I was told this would smooth out over time due to break-in. Not by Robin, but various other sources.

At peak throttle is does run very smooth and that's where it gets most of its heavy use, so I haven’t been too concerned. In between throttle settings it can vibrate pretty rough, enough to rattle things. Does anyone else have anything like this vibration? Or is it just my engine.

I thought I noticed the rpm climbing a little bit higher than normal at full throttle yesterday. All conjecture of course until I get around to checking everything out. I know an intake leak might also do something like this.

Most of the time you should run at full throttle. I am a little concerned about the vibration at mid spead. I would discuss that with Robin. I can feel a little more vibration at this speed, but it not a "bad" vibration.

So yours does vibrate a little bit more at mid idle?? The thing I notice is at the lowest setting it runs smooth. The middle setting it vibrates. The highest setting it's runs smooth. I also think I notice it runs a little smoother when the gas tank is full.

I may put another fuel filter in change the gas line and look around again for any gas feed problems loose bolts that sort of thing, if that doesn't help then it may be time to talk to Robin. Thanks for the feed back Bob.
