Antifreeze check

After winterizing my 1700 I used my bulb tester to get a reading on the fluid. The bulb is a 5-ball tester. The reading on my wife's car was 4 floating balls (-25), the reading on my car was 2 floating balls (+5), and the reading on ol' besty was ZERO balls. I use the 70/30 mixture but get no reading on the tester; is this mixture recommended just for summertime use? Is there a different mixture recommended for wintertime? Even in our south Ga climate I need protection to at least +20 degrees and at times our temp easily goes down into the teens.

Make sure you pay attention to the antifreeze you buy, quite a bit of it is premixed so if you mixed it again, it isn't 70-30.

I got some Final Charge Global 50/50(pre mixed) CAT EC-1 for heavy duty engines, no SCA's required. It says on the jug that it is good to -34. I found it at Pep Boy's I think.

I'm in the Pan Handle of FL so I'm in a little different situation than most of the experts here that can and have had great discussions on coolant/Antifreeze.

Thanks FL Jerry....you are absolutely correct and I had no idea that some antifreezes were deluted. I went to the barn to check the container and sure enough it plainly states "50/50 PREDELUTED". Well, bought my last bottle of SuperTech. It's off to the parts store to buy some "real" antifreeze. Learn something good almost everytime I visit this forum.

That stuff I mentioned is for Diesel engines BTW. I didn't know there was a difference,(neither did 90% of the autoparts stores here), till it came of in one of the threads. You might want to take a look at it just for GP's
