I was wondering if the angle of a subsoiler should the bottom of the triangle be level with the ground? I've seen some tilted up at an angle and have not seen any instructions or helpful hints for pulling one.

I set up my sub soiler so that it is vertical when it is fully in the ground. This means that the top tilts forwared when it is out of the ground. When I use the sub soiler I run in 1st low range and 4WD. I watch the right front tire, if it starts to slip (lose traction) I ease up on the fuel until it gets traction. The goal is to never spin the tire, becaue then you have to lift the sub soiler and start again. If easing up on the fuel does not work, I will then slowly raise the sup soiler until I get traction.

It a game to keep the speed up with out losing traction.

why dont ya just set your 3pt to draft control, then when the going gets tough it will automaticly lift the subsoiler, thats what its there for, they wouldnt have put it on nearly all tractors if it wasnt usefull /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Can't speak to the Kubotas, but the JD CUTs I've seen have position control, not draft control. Maybe I've just seen the wrong tractors.

I believe draft control is an option on the Kubota L series.
At least it was when I was tractor searching a couple years ago.
I do know the Kioti DK's do have draft control as a standard feature.

Yah i got draft control when i see it loose traction and start bucking i raise it up a bit /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif But i'll have to try tilting it up a bit see if that helps.

hmm, i guess i had just assumed basicly all tractors had draft control, i mean heck when the 3pt was first invented all it had was draft control, so why on earth would they get rid of it on later tractors, especialy something small like a compact that realy needs it, maybe on a big tractor its not as big of a deal, but a compact realy needs the benifit of draft control, otherwise the operator has to always be playing with the lift handle when plowing or subsoiling. but i guess the bottom line is they can make a tractor cheaper without it so why not eliminate it, seemed like a good idea to some high paid engineer who never ran a tractor in his life

I'm guessing that few CUTs are used for much, if any, plowing at all. Sure maybe in a garden, but it's not a major use.

My understanding of draft control is that it raises and lowers the 3Pt in relation to resistance. More resistance and it raises the hitch to lessen the load. I can see where this would be good on a plow, but is it of any benefit with a boxblade or grader blade? How about with a chain harrow or post hole digger?

I guess my point is that it would be added expense for very limited benefit. Your milage may vary.

mines a hinomoto around a agco 5020 series it does have a form of draft control for a tiller but it runs off a cable and have never tried it. I've never actualy seen draft control on most cut's of 80-90 era i think it'd realy be waste of time cause if i have to raise the implement i need a bigger tractor /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think they took it off to save money when the professional tractor/drag pull guys quit using them...Ha ha ha.

My 4310 wouldn't pull much of a plow, sure it can pull fine based on its weight/HP and traction. All of which don't add up to any significant amount you could count on to farm large acreage.

I think only stuff that is big enough to be considered a "pulling" tractor still have draft control...Kyle
