Firedog, I have had some thoughts on reinforcing the tube some. My thoughts are to add a gusset between the rod anchor point and the second bar. The second bar is welded to the plate so every thing should be strong enough than.

Rob, I hate painting but probably will paint it and the back blade and the loader snow blade and a couple of other things. Heck that will take up the hole next summer.:eek:

Charlie see if this picture gives you any ideas. This grapple has been in service for a few years and has held up very well. Gussets were added to the tube behind the hydraulic cylinder and each of the pivot points and bolted directly into the bucket.

I had thought of something like that Mike, but it was going to be a piece of flat stock.That shown in your picture may be a better way to go. Thanks.

The area that I did have some concern was where the rod end of the cylinder connected to that 2" sq. tube. I think that is where it would twist first.
