Went to a kubota dealer Saturday and saw a b7100 manual trans w/fel 1600 hours, I asked the owner of the shop how much and he said $6000. I thought the price was fair and told him I have a powerking w/fel and belly mower for trade, he said bring it up and we'll work something out. So I went and loaded up my tractor and mower and brought it back up( btw it was a 60 mile trip one way)
Now the salesman comes out and tells me they can't trade on mine cause the market has changed on used tractors and they wouldn't be able to get anything for it.Now this is the same guy I bought this tractor from last summer and there were 4 other people looking to buy it
I told the salesman and the owner to go get bent( that's putting it nicley). Sorry to be so long winded /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Thats what my local Kubota dealer about said to me. So I went to John Deere and they offered me a great price on trade-in..They even came to my place and looked at it, I didnt have to haul it anywhere..

Just curious...How much time elapsed between the time he told you to bring the PowerKing and when you did?

It couldn't have been more than 3 hours. What I think happened is the salesman wasn't happy about the price I was qouted for the b7100 so he didn't want to do any deals.

Then you could have just bought the B7100 at the price he gave you and sold your old tractor on your own.

He was in the wrong for telling you to bring in your tractor only to tell you later he couldn't help you out. I'd be PO'd as well.

I would be angry too!!! Glad to hear you told him to take a hike!!!

A lot of Kub dealers (at least in my area) have the attitude that orange is the only color out there and that there's is the only dealership within 500 miles. I suppose they haven't heard of the internet or toll free numbers.

When I was recently purchasing, I shopped all the locals, but they turned me off big time! One large dealership is only 8 miles from me, but I absolutely refuse to buy anything from them. That's why I was prepared to make a 3 hr trip one way to purchase from a dealer in another part of the state. However, I found, completely by chance, a great deal on a slightly used one just a short 90 mile ride one way.

Bottom line - take your time and shop around. Be prepared to travel some to find the "honest" dealer. And yes, the dealer you find may be selling other colors too!

Yep.. I'd be pissed too. Our local Green and orange dealers are elete snobs as well. The (various) red and blue dealer are the only ones that will talk to you.

I would go back and talk to the owner or manager. This was gross neglect of a customer, and frankly, I think you are owed an apology and a VERY GOOD deal to keep you as a customer. I have stormed out many times (with my temper). But nothing is gained from it (lose/lose). Be assertive and run the process of asking for help (from the manager/owner), explain what happened, and ASK him if he doesn't think that you were wronged and that you deserve something in compensation.

I learned this in a class I took and it works 99% of the time. If it doesnt work, you can just run it again with different wording until he breaks down! Or if he throws you out, tell him to GET BENT!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Who's running that operation! I would also go back and talk to the owner again, and if you don't get what you want, then post the dealer's name, so that other TBNers will know what to expect if they consider doing business with him. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

On the other hand, if the owner is reasonable (and the salesman was out of line), go ahead and post the dealer's name, so that TBNers will know who to talk to. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

When I was an assistant manager at McDonald's during college, we had to take customer service classes as well as management classes. The most important thing they emphasized was take care of a problem quickly and quietly. Now when I go somewhere and customer service is not provided in an acceptable manner, I state my position in a clear manner and continue to "negotiate" with the salesperson until a compromise can be reached. They will want to get rid of you because number one you are interfering with them talking to other customers and number two they don't want the other customers to see them trying to screw you. The key is not to become vulgar or give them something to call the police on you.

U agree to work with these guys - but once I trailered the trade in machine back home, that would be IT for them...

I'd be upset too ! It doesn't speak very well of the dealer AT ALL ! I'd look elsewhere to spend my money . When you buy your machine you might want to drive by that dealer , honk the horn, and wave . The point of going back and running the steps is to benifit you, both financially as well as physically. These things impact you and carry on in your life. It is damage.. and they have inflicted it. You are not happy, and you will carry that (as is demonstrated in your post. You asked if you are wrong... of course you are not, but you are still upset.

The only way to benifit you physically is to take it to them, and run the steps. Right time, right person, right tone, explain the situation, and ASK if they agree that you deserve xyz, or ASK them for what you want.

I'd want them to reconsider the whole situation. If they don't want your tractor, ask them to compensate you for your time with some hydro fluid and oil, or whatever you want/need. The point is, you DESERVE an apology and compensation. I'd stand on that sales floor and speak to the right person and run the steps. You'd be amazed. You can explain the costs you've undertaken in fuel and time.

I got a buck that says you'll get something, and I KNOW you'll be more satisfied internally to call them on it!

You were wrong. It was the owner that you had your initial contact with, he was the one that stated a price, upon your return you should have confirmed from him whether or not the original deal was still in place. The salesman had no relevance as far as your original visit was concerned.

I would have agree with what r0GuE and KNotMe are saying as well. Since you didn't ask for the next step I didn't say of that. But as they mention if you like to get it off your chest I'd call and ask for the owner and explain what happened and see what he has to say. If you in fact did not talk to the owner since the sale guy said that the owner may like to know about it. Maybe it has happened before and the sale guy will be canned for a second offense /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Thats a shame. If you lived near me, I could point you too a couple of superb Kubota dealers that would always work with you. Competition here in California is stiff enough that all the dealers know where there future is. I would have made an offer on the tractor and sold the other Power King myself, you always get more. Thats how I did my L48 and L3830 transaction. An internet dealer offered me $20K for my L48, I sold it for over $26K.

You were correct in doing what you did. I would have let him have it also. What an idiot. He probably was off a grand on the price he quoted you.

Did he give you the quote on the b7100 before he knew you had a trade-in, that makes all the difference in the world, around here used tractor dealers wont quote the price on their units til after they ask if you have a trade-in, that way they bump up the price tag on their machine since most buyers expect top dollars or even over the top $ on their trade ins. But he sure was a big-time moron on making you haul it up and down without an offer.
