We only know what we have experienced, most of "current events" are so filtered and biased that the true substance has been washed out.

I read, can't say it's true, that more than 1/2 of all AI traffic is "Invisible Friend" conversations.

Real people holding "conversations" with a chat Bot, because they don't have alternatives.

Well, you know, is it worse than the alternative? We are rapidly approaching peak suicide time of the year, and if there are folks getting some comfort from talking to AI, rather than being "alone", and its their last thread, who are we to judge. Maybe not healthy, but maybe like chemo, unhealthy but better than the alternative?

Also, got to seperate "entertainment", playing with AI for fun, from "talking to it" as a replacement for human interaction.

No, it’s not. I can’t believe anyone apparently smart as you would actually believe that, about this disinformation propagandist who is clearly just trolling for maximum clicks.

"Everyone's opinion is valid," only applies when those giving it are genuine and sane. I don't know if Matt Walsh is so deranged that he actually believes half the crap he's posting, but I suspect not, I believe he knows he's just spouting whatever garbage he believes will generate the highest view count. Successful, in that he's been quoted twice here, and now we're talking about him.

In more positive news, I assume most of you know IEEE, international trade organization for electrical engineers, and one of the largest trade organizations in the world. Their humanitarian technologies chapeter has a new Generative AI initiative.

All the 'cool kids' are advertising AI to make whatever they have sound 'better'. Even charitable orgs are 'selling' their services.

There's a place for AI, but it is trendy for it to be inserted into everything. At some point, it will be cool to be retro and have AI-free spaces, devices, etc.

I liken it to the 60s-70s when it seemed everything had to associate itself with Space.

AI isn't going away, but the cool-factor will fade eventually.

Who needs AI to talk to themselves? If talking to yourself is AI, I have had AI for decades
When I ask AI a question I want a response from somebody smarter than myself... When AI is in thinking mode it will show all sources it is gathering info from. In a few seconds it scans multiple sources.
