age checking

My 1979 Yanmar had what I think were the original rear tires on it when I bought it less than a year ago. They were weather checked, and I had a flat tire. I took the wheel and tire into Les Schwab, and they would not work on it because it was "dangerous" due to the weather checking. I pleaded with them to at least repair the tube for me since I had traveled 35 miles. They did it on a "one time only" basis but refused to air it up, telling me I would need to replace the tires if they were to work on them again. Fine. I took it to a local shop who laughed and aired the tire up. I asked them if they dealt in tractor tires and they said no. I ended up getting another flat (several) and so I just bit the bullet and ordered the tires through Les Schwab since it's the only place nearby where I can even get them. That was like 4 months ago. Just today I was walking by the tractor and, wouldn't you know it, the whole sidewall on one of the tires is checking almost the whole way around, and deep. I mean I can stick a screwdriver blade in it. They are Alliance brand. I am very bothered by this. Les Scwab essentially forced me to buy tires which are doing the same thing which they would not work on the first time.

The sooner you bring it to their attention, the better chance of getting it resolved in your favor.

I put a pair of "AG Pro" tires on the back of my Oliver 1655, 70hp tractor & fluid filled them last summer. They still look great.
