You NEED an LTC to buy a firearm? And ammo? That's insane. No bureaucrat(s) should wield that kind of power.
wow! Thing must be different back east.. here we can "carry" all we want on our property, and have a concealed weapon in our automobiles all without the permit. We need a permit if we are to carry on our person, off our property and out of our automobiles. I though everyone had the right to have a gun on them in their homes..It is amazing to me that any jurisdiction would think that there would be something wrong with ordinary citizens having a firearm on them in their homes or on their property.

In New York City you can't own a rifle, shotgun or a handgun without a permit. That includes in your own home or on your own property. In the rest of the state you need a permit to own a handgun. Permits can take up to a year to get in NYC and cost several hundred dollars for each. Time for the rest of the country to make sure it does not happen to where you live. Here is what can happen if you ignore the issue Gun laws in New York - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Like James K0UA I also live in Missouri, up until a few years ago we had t get a "Permit to Acquire a Concealable Firearm" in order to buy a handgun, but that was dropped and a provision for obtaining concealed carry endorsements was instituted, contrary to many states, Missouri has gotten more lenient in its gun laws, we are truly lucky.
Yep, and when we got rid of the permit to purchase handguns, guess what? nothing bad happened. And when we instituted Concealed carry in 2004, nothing bad happened... blood did not "run in the streets" as a few worthless people said was going to happen, everything remained calm.. The permit to purchase handgun's thing was just a way for the Local Sheriff to ding every citizen $10 bucks every time they traded guns. And it was not uniform throughout the state, some counties it was 3 days to get your permit, and others you could just walk in and get the permit immediately. Most gun laws are stupid, capricious, and arbitrary abuses of official power. Thankfully here in Missouri, as 3R has pointed out, we have regained our senses and our rights.
I feel sorry for some of you folks back east and on the other coast, that have lost your rights. I am "sure" you all are so much safer, and crime free with your restrictive laws.
