adding top and tilt

OHHH, I was wondering what the T was for. That makes sense. Thanks, I am sure that the Tank line goes back to the Block and at that point there is an I which I figured was for IN. this is what the instructions called for. Most likely because the lines off the Block end up right under the right foot rest.

What you are looking for is a port that will accept something like this adapter to make the port a PB port.

Side question since I have always been curious about this -- why do power beyond adapters tend to look like that? When I installed one on the outlet section of a valve stack, the adapter was clearly bridging a cross-pathway drilled in the outlet block (running perpendicular to the port) and sealing against an opening from the last valve in the stack (aligned with the port).

It suggested to me that maybe the port could have multiple purposes depending on what kind of fitting/adapter was threaded in. Or maybe if that port was plugged, the power beyond flow would route into that cross-pathway, and be available to other ports. That particular outlet section had three plugs -- the middle one that I used, and one on each end -- and I suspected any of the three could be used for power beyond.

The power beyond adapter takes oil from the pump that flows through the valve body and routes it to another use down stream. If the adapter is not used and that port is plugged the oil is returned to tank in an open center system. That port can also be used as an additional connection to tank as long as there is a return to tank line connected to the return port.

What the PB adapter does is to separate the galleries so the cyl fluid flows through the OUT port and the pump flow continues in the flow path.

If the PB adapter is not used, there is a plug in the port and the cyl fluid and pump fluid flows through the OUT port.

That valve can also be converted to closed center valve by plugging the PB port.

The PB adapter does not always look like the above picture .

Some valves have a 1/4 hex screw that screws in the PB port to make that port a PB port.

Here is a PB screw adapter. It separates the galleries to make the port a PB port.

ok, so this morning I pulled out the top plug of the loader valve.



I also went scrounging thru buckets and came up with this from the original packaging. I think it is a PB adapter?





It fits in the top. And I also found a link to the pace valve which shows three different ways to hook this loader up. From those instructions it looks like I could put the PB adapter in the top and run a line to another set of valves?

I don't what to hijack the tread but why can't the tank line from the loader valve that is going back to the hyd block be split at the QD shown in the third picture and a line inserted that would go to the TNT control and then return to the other side of the QD?

That is a good question, daktx... I wonder if there still has to be a PB valve to help with the proper flow. I hope J_J or someone who knows will jump in.

The way it is connected now, appears to be a loader valve not using the PB.

Did you connect the lines exactly like the instructions said.

Logically, since the valve is being used in a series flow, you should have used the adapter and the PB port for the flow back to the hyd blk and run the tank line to tank.

Although it has been working, you could have damaged things due to back pressure on the loader valve.

I would suggest to read the instructions carefully and maybe post them on line here.

That is a PB sleeve for your valve.

The way it is now, the pump fluid and the cyl fluid is flowing back to the hyd block using the tank port. Not the ideal flow path.

Just about all valve manufacturers make this statement. All tank lines should go to tank.

Your manual should tell you the port to use for the loader valve flow path.

If all you will ever do is use a top & tilt set, then 2 is all that you will ever need. A lot of people like to have hydraulic actuated implements which can easily add up to 4 more sets for a total of 6 sets of rear remote outlets.

So it all depends on you. I would add 3 sets at a minimum and really think about what you want to do in the future. On the safe side, be sure to use stacking valves so that more controls and outlets are easier to add in the future. Be sure to get at least one of the remotes with the float function and 2 is better in my opinion.

It is not using the PB, I did follow instructions exactly, and on the valve instructions.

I put this loader on about 8 years ago and it has worked well. I also could redo the set up if that is what you think would be best.

The instructions are there for the PB installation.

The valve came as open center valve with plug in the PB port.

It is up to you if you want to change things as it has been working for you.

Logically, you would add valves is series with the PB port from previous valve feeding the IN port of the next valve.

A two spool monoblock valve with PB will be the least expensive with out float.

You need stacked valves to add float.
