First, I prefer to be called a frugal person. I read up on adding liquid ballast here on these forums. So I purchased the Air-Liquid-Adapter-Kit from Gemplers and purchased the additional parts from the local hardware shop. 1 ten foot roll of plastic tubing: hose adaptors with nipple. Wire ties: 20, 1 gallon jugs of -20 windshield washing fluid. WHY WWF, because it is $2:30 a gallon, it will not kill my lawn, kill my dog or stain anything, if it ever leaks. Beside the RV Antifreeze was $5+ for a gallon and I would not use Water and Anti freeze
I had read here on the forums that you could just let gravity feed fill your tires doing like an IV set up. (The Picture) THIS WAS TAKING TOO LONG!. You would have to let it drain into the tire a pint at a time but once there was on the fluid in the line the pressures would equalize and you would have to vent the fluid in the line as well as the tire. Wasting a lot of WWF.
So I decided that since I did not have a pump (and was not going to get one), I would use my air compressor and pressurize some container or sealed bucket. SO I plenty of the WW plastic bottles sitting around and why not use them. I drilled holes in the cap and fitted my air chuck from my tire filler and then drilled a home in the bottom of the bottle for the Nipple fitting. So after 2 or 3 gallons the fitting at the bottom of the WW bottle would start it leak bad enough for me to drill another bottle and fit the fitting in. Hey I had plenty of them. Sorry no picture of this since I was running out for time and had to get back to the family. But I did it, 8 Gallon (approx.) into each tire.
So today I took it for a test ride. We had a few pot holes on our road the needed to be filled. So hooked up the Box blade and tried out my traction in 2 wheel drive. I could feel that I had more traction as the dirt filled the box blade. What really caught my attention was the Steering was lighter. (NO PS on Kubota B7100's)
Yes, I am happy with it.
So it end up costing me just under $70 total but since I had some gift cards for the store where I purchased the WWF it took $46 off the cost for me. What really upset me was Gemplers charged $8.25 for the adaptor and another $8+ for shipping. $8 for shipping that little thing!!
