Adding air to a loaded tire

Try giving your tractor a bump of air then check it.

does air come out when you press the Schrader valve down?? :)

as Murph said, shoot some air into the stem first to clear it.. especially if it is a liquid filled tire.

If it is an air only tire, and a very light tractor, sometimes just tire sidewall will hold a rim up and the tire may be 'deflated'.

post back.

What Soundguy said.. My rear tires only have 16 psi in them at most (L3400 Kubota), some automotive gauges will barely read that low a pressure. It's also possible that the stem is clogged with salt crystals if you have calcium chloride. In any case, you may want a spare valve stem handy before you fiddle with it much, I've had a couple go to pieces once disturbed.

jack the tyre and rotate to the 1/11 oclock position and remove the valve and let excess drain so the tyre is not over filled. Replace the valve and reinflate. NB The reason the fluid should not be higher is because tire gauges won't read liquid AND liquid in tyre gauges is BAD news.

They make and sell a tire pressure Guage for checking filled tires. They are available at napa.

Ditto that, a box of spare cores, and one of those 4 way core tools that removes, rethreads and shaves seat is a must on filled tires, as you say, sometimes just checking them makes a leak that needs a new core, or if a 2 part stem, a new end section

there is no trick to it. It sounds like the calcium has eaten up the inside of your core housing. They make stainless steel core housings and stainless valve cores to be used with calcium. They make 2 different styles of core housings, old and new style. Your tractors age it could have either 1. The core housing should unscrew from the tube, sometimes it is difficult to do, a new one should screw back in its place. Make sure the valve core you get does not have the long spring sticking inside the core housing. Any established Farm tire repair shop dealing in tractor rears will have the parts you need.

Can I add air to a tire with calcium chloride in it

I had a stupid tre like that for years. Thought about changing to beet juice and all that. But I just had a tube put in recently and everything is nice and dry. Should have done that ten years ago.

Even with the liquid gauges, try and wash them as best as you can after use.
