Well I got my L3130HST a few weeks ago and it's been great. In the future I thought adding a cab might be something I want to do for the winter. I see that Curtis has a good looking unit and that's almost certainly the way I'd go.

I'm just curious on why the factory doesn't offer them on the L3130 but do on other models of the same size and I was also wondering if you couldn't order a factory cab from the L3430 and add it to the L3130. Of course they may not sell it like that or it may be ridiculously expensive. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I don't think they sell the cab to be fitted later.

The hard cabs available for the L3130 are:

Curtis Cab
Sims Cab (Dakota model)
Laurin Cab

Its likey they don't make a cab for the 3130 because the AC robs so much power from the engine. No, you can't put a new Kubota cab on a tractor without one, the operators platform is different and so are the loader valve assemblies. After markets are available that will fit. In all honesty, if you want a cab with AC and all the bells and whistles trade in your 3130 on a new Kubota with a cab. It gets very expensive to put on after market cabs because there is a good three days of labor involved with many of them. The basic curtis's aren't too bad though, but they are not nearly as nice as the Kubota.

1 day at dealer for any of the three I listed. Maybe 3 if you were doing it yourself.

Two days ago I priced a Laurin on an L-series. Those are more involved and one of the only after market cabs that can come close to comparing with a factory L-cab. I had about 20 hrs of labor involved by the manufacturers estimate. Take the cab itself, an A/C compressor, plumbing and freight and your well above $6000. Your right, a simple sims or curtis can be done in a day...but they are not nearly as nice as the factory cabs. Also have to watch your loader valve, unless the cab is built to accomidate the "non-cab" version your going to have to replace that as well. Cabs can get pretty involved quick.

The local dealer installs lots of Laurin's and prefers them to the Curtis for ease of install. He says it costs his mechanics lots of time fiddling with all teh pieces on the curtis. With the Laurin he says they use the overhead crane to drop it on. He charges the same for installation on either model, 1000$ Canadian.

Of course, neither is including the AC hookup.

Yea the A/C doubles the install time. I see your from Canada. It also costs me about another $500 in freight to get Laurins where others are much cheaper.

Wouldn't want AC. Here in NE PA it just isn't needed that much, assuming I can open the windows. The Laurins look very nice. Are they double in cost compared to the Curtis though?

In Canada the Hard side curtis costs almost the same as the Laurin, which is expensive.

The Laurin costs as much as what the list price increase for the factory cab does in the US. Unfortunately in Canada the factory cab costs around 12000$ Can more. (About 9000$ US more)

Hmm, reading back through that paragraph, I think it makes sense.
