No I didn't go to the battery. And I think I used 14 gauge wire.
There is a plug/wires on the right rear of my tractor. Power comes on when the headlights are turned on. I came off that plug for the center 2 ROPs lights. (they turn on with my headlights).
For the outside 2 ROPs lights I added a seperate switch ( near the factory installed rear light and came off that rear light for power (there are 2 wires there. One comes on when the tractor is in reverse, the other wire was hot all the time that I used for power).
