John Deere 3038E
Hey guys looking for a cost effective way to add a couple remotes to the rear of the tractor primarily for a hyd. top link. Is it possible to do it just with hyd. hose and a 2 spool valve? Know there is a kit avail. from deere but think its priced to high for what I want to accomplish. Any parts info or where to tap into etc. would be helpful

Very hard to beat this. I'm sure you can do it with after market parts, but why bother? This is a complete kit and done to fit your tractor at a reasonable cost.

So is $3-400 out of the question? Thought if a guy could get an aftermarket valve and route Hyd. Lines from power beyond etc. Could put together something for half or less

I suppose if you do enough research and are satisfied with lower quality valves, it can be done. Some guys have found unbelievable deals on things, even the factory kits someone may have had. Like I said research.

For others it simply is not worth the time and effort to save a few hundred dollars.

Good luck.

I too always vote OEM when available...
By the this you buys decent valve, the QD's, fab a bracket, and get hoses made you have not saved that much, and it always looks "added on" which can hurt resale value if one cares about those things. GreenFarmParts offers a 7% discount to GTT members and free shipping on most things, they sometimes run other sales too.

You are getting good advice from MVR and KD. I've installed two DIY aux valves, one for backhoe thumb and the other for top and tilt. My reason for doing it was that dealer kits for what I needed were not available. That Deere kit is very slick and compact. Valves, fittings, quick connects, handles, etc that all adds up. The Deere kit is properly oriented, and includes not only a mounting bracket but a protective cover. Assembling all the correct parts, fabricating brackets, getting it installed, is a lot of figuring, guesswork, and just plain old work. If I could have ordered $800 bolt-on kits to avoid all that, would have done it in a heartbeat.
