A really good flashlight

Have you, and what is your own experience with them?

I made me look. For what I pay for a 100 pack of batteries, I could get a 8 count battery charger with 8 batteries.

Generally speaking, I don't have faith in rechargeable flashlight batteries holding up over time.

No just got the flashlight and it chewed up the 1st pair of 123 batteries since Christmas, so I am thinking about getting the rechargeable ones.

You may already know this, but if it's a streamlight, if you run it on the lower setting, it will last a lot longer.

I generally set my up to where the first setting is low, not high.

I've used various lights over the last 30 years, and since we've been married for over 20 years, my wife will tell you the last thing I need is another flashlight LOL

Streamlight by far is the best brand I've used.

My two favorite

ProTac® 1L-1AA | Handheld Flashlight | Streamlight®

The above for small physical size that can easily clip to a cap for you wearing it on your head. Can easily see a tree line 80 yards away on the high setting.

PolyTac® X | Rechargeable Handheld Flashlight | Streamlight®

For the above, even though larger than the 1L-1AA model, distance is phenomenal for the smaller size vs some of Streamlights larger lights.

Just love the plastic feel of the Polytac series vs the metal, particularly cold and you aren't wearing gloves. Could never figure it out, but there is a difference in the design between the black and yellow light. Prefer the black due to being able to be more easy to activate with your thumb.

Both lights cost around $40

I've gone the cheap road on lights, never seems to work out after a year or two. Also prefer to stay away from rechargeable lights.

Generally buy a case (100pk) of CR123A batteries from Battery Junction (generally has good deals on both lights and batteries from past experiences). 100 pack will generally last a couple of years as we do take the dogs out for night walks out back and a good flashlight is indispensable.

One of my favorite little Streamlight is the ProTac2L but I seldom use it because it uses two CR123A batteries. A few years ago CR123A were $10 for a pair of them. With your $1.75 price link, I will start using it more...Thanks

I also have your little 1L-1AA model but with a rechargeable usb battery and like you, I really like it.

I was in HF the other day and picked up a BRAUN..
The dang thing is so bright it washes out what ever small place I’m looking in.!!!
Granted it has 2 settings and u can adjust the beam but it’s still to bright..
I never thought I’d utter those words talking about a FLASHLIGHT..

Try the Braun (or Icon) Puck that I mentioned in Post #30. It is bright, but has a fixed wide beam so it doesn't wash out like a narrow beam might.

I'm not sure I can illuminate my neighbor's house 1/4 mile away, but it is good for where I'm working or walking.

I think the the high setting lasts like 1.5 hours and the low setting is 14 hours on that 1L-1AA.

That's a HUGE difference IMO.

The low setting on that 1L-1AA is still pretty good IMO.

I also have your little 1L-1AA model but with a rechargeable usb battery and like you, I really like it.

You may already know this, but one reason why I really like that flashlight is that it also takes 1 - double A battery.

It's nice to have something to clip to your cap when your doing something at night and you don't have to hold the flashlight with your mouth when you need two hands to do something in the dark.

When my dad passed and I took over his car (when he lived with us) he still had the old Surefire E1L outdoorsman model I bought him for his fly fishing adventures in his car. Light is still running strong. Back then (they don't make the model anymore) it cost me like $100 which my dad would NEVER spend on a flashlight, but the new smaller ones Surefire has out has a lot more light, but they can't be had for under $250 now. Just too dang expensive, even for my taste, and my buddy had one of their suppressors he wasn't to happy about with customer service on something.
