A new use for a front end loader

Spent this last weekend lowering the 2008 FXSTC. Had to get under it to remove the shocks and this made it a snap.

The fel sure does come in handy sometimes. I drive my ztr's front wheels into the bucket, curl the bucket up a bit and lift the ztr up so I can maintain the deck and blades. I always block my bucket before getting under the mower also.

FEL has way saving on pinch fingers or skin off knuckles.

If you raise the loader a little higher or curl the bucket a little further back, you will be surprised at how fast the chains unhook and the load crashes to the ground. I am not singling you out, but just using the picture as an example.

I think the bucket hooks should be 4" in from the ends of the bucket, and then the chains should be run over the cutting edge. No matter how much lift or curl the chains would always remain hooked, unless they slip off the end of the cutting edge. Not even in the dark with wind and rain and the operator in a hurry. Not that you would be changing shocks in the rain,

i dont use chain hooks.if i have to lift something with the loader i secure the chain to the hay forks an do the lifting.

That's ok. I've never dropped anything because of a chain coming unhooked, and I've lifted lots of stuff, but I guess it could happen.
I had the bucket rolled back the way it was because there is about 30 foot of grade 70 chain in the bucket and about 15 foot of some other grade chain and I didn't want it to come crashing down on the bike. My "short" chains were in my truck box and I didn't want to go get them.

There is an old thread on unusual uses of a FEL, all very interesting.

We just won't go into everything for which mine have been used, but picking up a motorcycle would not be one to cause me concern.
