On many occassions I have wanted to respond to a thread only to find out I'm not sure of the horse power of the tractor being referred to. I find this especialy true with Kubotas. So, instead of mentioning just the model throw in the horsepower too.
For example, If I mentioned my Massey 2615 you'd have no idea whether it could handle a 6ft. snow blower or not. However, If I mentioned my 49 horse Massey 2615 you'd know how to respond.
Just a thought.
So will my Model Q123 Gazornaplat handle a 15 ft batwing?

Mark it's great idea, but doubt you'll get much voluntary participation.
I happen to have a Ford 4000 tractor. I learned years ago to say I have a 1967, 3cyl, Ford 4000 when asking questions about this tractor. People will just have look up the subject model numbers before replying or reply with questions about size and HP.

Yes, yes it will and quite well I might add; had one for years just like that.:laughing:

I concur with Wedge; good idea, but I doubt it will work and I have to admit I am as guilty of this as anyone else. I usually just have to check Tractor Data to find out the HP and such on tractors. Matter of fact, I don't even know how much HP our Case 995 has and would have to look it up.

But a 25 hp tractor from 50 years ago was twice the weight and size of a modern 25 hp tractor, and can do lots more work.

Then maybe go by PTO HP, we have some old tractors 50+ years old and they seem comparable to modern tractors in the tye of cutters they will spin, but not in field work; guess it depends on what you are doing. A full description of draw bar, PTO HP, weight gearing etc. could get pretty involved.

Its a great idea will save alot of folks having to do the tractordata thing but most will just say if you dont know anything about the tractor anyways why are you trying to give advice on what size of shredder/mower it can handle

Sure do and think I "may" have gotten that one wrong.

:laughing: I dont think you were against it TripleR,I would have to go back and read it but there wasnt very many saying it would. I know I was set straight on here that when you post HP for your tractor ENGINE doesnt count,it has to be PTO. It just dont take alot of KUBOTA to pull one

Hard to tell, my memory often leaves a lot to be desired. I think someone even advised against an M8540 once for a bat wing.
