Years ago I had a tie tack with a 555 chip on it.

The idea of such a small item was the reason wanted. still, 2-way radios were in use. radio was Motorola .salesmn brought into the shop still tube type. The 2-way radio had a transistor power supply.60 watt then increased to 100 were able to talk 100 miles on the radio in the vehicle.
Our microwave system was tube type and telephone carriers same.
No interstate highways, cell phones, only C'B radios for personal communications. Life was Good.

He would have been 103 this year if he were still alive. I miss him.
